| Am I overreacting?
Hello! I have a question about someone I know's drinking habits...He drinks every day alone in his room after he gets home from work. I don't know exactly how much, but he gets to drunk to walk probably about once or twice a month (maybe more, he tries very hard to cover it up) Most days he just drinks for relaxation in his room, he also takes benedryl daily because of allergies (I don't know if that is safe) But I don't know if it is just a normal drinking habit or alcoholism, he generally falls asleep soon after drinking, I don't know if he is just tired or drinks himself to sleep...Its all very covered up, secretive, and confusing...He is also a Christian, and I was raised in a non-alcoholic household, so whenever the subject comes up, he just accuses me of being legalistic...is he right? am I overeacting? I really don't want to seem like a self-rightous prude... |

I would say you are not being legalistic. Thing is though, we can't stop him from drinking. We can only be there with info to support when he comes to terms with the situation. His being a Christian, I would share with him a few verses that point out where his actions may not be good for him. Be ye not drinker of much wine.... Beyond that, all we can do is pray for him and then be there with answers to help him find the support and way off the sinful path. His finding conviction, his desire to stop, the Lord's strength and grace to help him stop. Our prayers. He can find the narrow path with the proper guidance.
