| Armor for all
Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. Eph. 6;11 The apostle Paul wrote four letters during his imprisonment. It is likely that during his imprisonment Paul noted how well equipped a soldier-guard was. Under the spirit's guidance he saw a picture there of a fully prepared christian. Living in a dangerous world requires putting on the "full armor of God". The parts of the armor look like this; truth is worn like a belt; righteousness covers the breast-plate; faith is the shield; readiness to proclaim the gospel of peace makes a pair of shoes. Finally-there is the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, the word of God. We need protection in the world. We carry on active combat with forces that tempt us to trust in ourselves, that would take us away from the promises of God. Pauls words encourage us to trust the protection God gives us- defending and keeping us in times of temptation and protecting and delivering us from every evil, just as we pray in the lords prayer. God reveals the help and protection he gives to us through Christ. He will protect. He promises to guard us in every danger and to defend us in every peril. Though sin, death, and the devil oppress us, Christ equips us with his word spirit, in the full armor of God, to keep us faithful and standing in the one true faith. Portals of prayer. NLIC

Love those verses. Truth... when our lips and actions always tell truths... we won't ever need worry about tripping (belt holds the whole armor in place) Rightiousness... as a breast plate that will always protect the heart from damage. Gospel of Peace... With faith in God's promise through the Gospel, our feet stand firm and can hold fast. (spiked boots as worn by Roman Gaurds) Shield of Faith... A shield used by the guard was made of leather and soaked in water. When a arrow in flame would hit it, the fire would go out. With faith and trust in God's promises we can extinguish every fiery arrow satan tries to throw our way. Helmet of Salvation... knowing we are saved through Jesus and holding that in our thoughts at all times... we can protect our thoughts and keep them holy. and the Sword of the Spirit... that would be the word of God. As we read of the tempation satan tried to bring upon Christ, we see that Jesus' every rebuke against satan was done so with scripture... For it is written... For it is said... and that is why it is important that we read the Word. Knowing what is written, we will know what to rebuke satan with. Like the child who stands behind dad when he sees a big dog barking and coming down the street... We can stand with God through all things that may come. He has given us the way, the truth, and the life. I so do like those verses... Thank you for posting them.
