A Way Of Life=AWOL

Is anyone interested in doing an AWOL over the internet? An AWOL is an indebth study on the 12 steps. We would go slow and on the 1st step you can use whatever your powerless about(alcohol, drugs, food, pride, ect. whatever the sin that has your life unmanageable.) I have 11 years of sobriety and clean time + I am a Christian. I have many symptoms still that keep my life unmanagable.
-I would use the 12 steps of recovery in AA and the Big Book of AA. Also I would use the12 step prayers and I have the Christian steps. I would post the step, readings and the questions for you to veiw and share. I would also include my short sharing. I have facilitaed an AWOL before face to face. This would be my 1st online AWOL. Usually the group is limited to a few but I think God wants me to expand. I would post every other day with a new key(question). God Bless.:yellowros

I have also been thinking this would be really good for me, it's very difficult for me to get to f2f meetings, and this could just be an answer to pray......

Thanks for the responses. I'll try to keep this simple. You will need to do the readings that I will give you so that you can reply back and share how it purtains to you. I will use keys(Questions) Some of the readings will be long so it is better if you start reading the chapter and stop at the key. Then you will continue on to the next key. We will be reading most of the step book.
~ Example: Step 1 --key 1( shows where to find readings, either Big Book=BB or 12 step book of AA=12) then question.
~ I'll give a two new keys every week so that you can have time to read and respond. If you want to go faster just let me know. Remember you must read the readings. I'm open to suggestions, like I said this is 1st time on the web. I have more Scriptures I can use. What you put into it you will get out of it. Recovery is a process.

STEP ONE

Step 1 Prayer:

Today, we ask for help with our addiction. Denial has kept us from seeing how poweless we are and how our life is unmanagable. We need to learn and remember that we have an incurable illness and that abstinence is the only way to deal with it.

^We admitted we were powerless over alcohol---that our lives had become unmanageable. (AA)

"I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out." Rom. 7:18

Read Big Book pg. 58-60 (start at) Rarely--------sought (end)

Key 1 read (12) pg. 21 We-------------------unmanagable

*Share our need for complete surrender to the AA way of life?

Key 2 read (12) Pg. 21 We--------------------Built

*Share why with utter defeat before we can recover. Does personal powerlessness impel a person to continue with the 11 steps?

~My share:
Step 1 key 1 & 2 After I tried many ways to stop drinking and drugging for at least 15 years only to go back to taking that drink or substitue. I couldnt stop and my life was in shambles. I hated myself because I couldn't stop. Once I got to an AA meeting I found out it was a disease. They showed me a way out of my distrution. I was dying inside and desparate to do something about my problem. Could no longer blame those around me for my use. I was in trouble with the law. I had no idea how to take care of 3 children nor did I want to or the husband at the time. Bottom line I didn't want me. The program gave me hope a way out and to start a new life. I was desparate. I couldn't play the game of stealing stuff in order to return it for the money to use. I no longer felt right that we were bringing the babys into stores to see this or get arrested and going through trash bags for the 5 cent cans. We would get food stamp but we sold it to buy the high. I surrendered and knew I was sickand tired of being sick and tired. I also knew I had to take action. I commited myself into a 4 month program to learn and get away from my using husband he was not ready for change. I would have done anything in order to feel better. I learned there about the steps and sponcership. That was a life time ago and I have changed and have received many blessings. After I became powerless I surrendered and became willing open to try some different. I knew I didn't have the answers. I am still teachable. Thank you God. This AWOL on line is helping me to surrender again and commit to stay and help others with the remaining steps.
God Bless:]

Hi all! Heres Key 3, read Pg. 21-22 The-------flowered and read pg.30 of the Big Book.We---better. Question-Disuss the need for admitting comeplete defeat. Is this our bedrock for recovery? Did the founders of AA believe that this was important?

I know I need to admit to complete defeat in order to stop the drinking or drugging or the sin that I keep doing. I have to be sick and tired of how my life is. I am. I can no longer do things that are bad for me. The founders believed it because it was important in order to change. You must relize that you have to give up and surrender to God, the thing thats causing you harm. Its one of the most improtant part in this step, for then it opens the desire to do whatever it takes to stop. Then you become willing.

I am going on a vacation for 2 weeks, back in Feb.That is if your still interested in this. I hope you got the books. God Bless all.
