LDS in recovery?

Are there any LDS's on here? I have been looking into the LDS religion, and its values really speak to me, although I am not sure yet about the actual teachings. What I want to know is-- how has this particular religion integrated itself into your recovery? What is it like to be a mormon in recovery?

Hi!
Im coming up on a year clean and sober...I am a recovering drug addict and alcoholic...I was baptized November 20th 1992 into the LDS church...my point? Addiction..can happen to every human being on Gods green earth...I was actively killing myself for 6 straight years...I literally lost everything and I didn't hit my bottom until I was brought back to life by my fire engine crew that I supervised..I went to five very expensive rehabs...once a year like vacation....what saved me? Heavenly Father...the 12 steps and the Atonement of Jesus Christ...im a good man with a lifelong BAD disease...finding a higher power is the key to recovery and love that gets you through your days to come...The 12 steps a sponsor and the higher power of your choice can give you the DAILY REPRIEVE and peace that can conquer the darkness that accompanies all addictions..Im a recovering alcoholic, drug addict, dad, friend and LDS man...I am happy again and here to let you know that this, addiction affects everyone...my family and friends support me when im honest...that's the key...honesty...God be with you...im here as a lifelong person in recovery! One day..at a time!
