| You're all I need, Jesus.
I had a hard day at work today but I am able to survive it after some time with the Lord. I listen to Deeper by Hillsong and I feel so much better. I gave up the drink for Jesus. Thank You Jesus.

Welcome to SR. My favorite by Hillsong is Mighty To Save, I always get a little choked up thinking about how God works in my life when I hear that.

Hello, N2- Your statement kind of parallels my life. I when to AA off & on for years. While I learned a lot, it just didn't work for me. I FINALLY turned to the Lord, & I'll have a year in fairly soon. After praying one day, I "heard" a voice saying, " As long as you drink, you CANNOT become one of mine. Come back after you grow up a little, and we'll talk." My sobreity is a gift from Jesus- there can be NO other explaination. In one fell swoop, I quit Booze, weed/drugs, and cigarettes after suffering from these addictions for 33 years.(!) Things aren't & never will be perfect- I have a LOT of faults to try to correct-But I'm on my way. |

Mikefreak that's how I am starting to feel about it now. In the earlier part of the year, I didn't even seem to be sure what my real motivation was to quit, except for my life seeming mixed up, or what I wanted to do it for. Now I am going to do it for Jesus. I became a Christian nearly a decade ago. Unfortunately though as a new member at church, went through some negative experiences, never really built a personal connection/relationship with Jesus. I am just getting back to it now. I'd had some kind of spontaneous Holy Spirit moment, at age 27 - didn't seem to quite know what to do with it though, and I had a lot of confusion about Christianity itself. A lot of things I'm just coming to terms with now, at age 36. I started drinking just a little with some friends in my late twenties. It progressed though over the years, and drowned God's voice out for me... I never want to lose that again. I am so grateful for that Holy Spirit moment that I had... I'd been very turned against God before then, very very resistant, I still don't know why it happened really. |
