Here's a favorite of mine:

Traveling Light - Sarah Groves and Joel Hanson
Album: Traveling Light
Written by: Allison Mellon, Marc Byrd, Brown Bannister and Steve Hindalong

Well I was doublin' over the load on my shoulders
Was a weight I carried with me everyday
Crossin' miles of frustrations and rivers a ragin'
Pickin' up stones I found along the way

I staggered and I stumbled down
Pathways of trouble
I was haulin' those souvenirs of misery
And with each step taken my back was breakin'
'Til I found the One who took it all from me

Down by the riverside
(Down by the riverside)
I laid my burdens down,
Now I'm travelin' light
My spirit lifted high
(I found my freedom now)
I found my freedom now
And I'm travelin' light

Through the darkest alleys and loneliest valleys
I was draggin' those heavy chains of doubt and fear
Then with the one word spoken the locks were broken
Now He's leading me to places
Where there are no tears

Addison Road / What do I know of Holy.......... It makes me think of my first days of 12 step program making my own small concept of God, then the Holy Spirit reminding me I have no clue, it brings tears to my eyes most of the time.

I made You promises a thousand times
I tried to hear from Heaven
But I talked the whole time
I think I made You too small
I never feared You at all No
If You touched my face would I know You?
Looked into my eyes could I behold You?

(CHORUS)
What do I know of You
Who spoke me into motion?
Where have I even stood
But the shore along Your ocean?
Are You fire? Are You fury?
Are You sacred? Are You beautiful?
What do I know? What do I know of Holy?

I guess I thought that I had figured You out
I knew all the stories and I learned to talk about
How You were might to save
Those were only empty words on a page
Then I caught a glimpse of who You might be
The slightest hint of You brought me down to my knees

(CHORUS)
What do I know of You
Who spoke me into motion?
Where have I even stood
But the shore along Your ocean?
Are You fire? Are You fury?
Are You sacred? Are You beautiful?
What do I know? What do I know of Holy?

(CHORUS 2)
What do I know of Holy?
What do I know of wounds that will heal my shame?
And a God who gave life it's name?
What do I know of Holy?
Of the One who the angels praise?
All creation knows Your name
On earth and heaven above
What do I know of this love?

(CHORUS)
What do I know of You
Who spoke me into motion?
Where have I even stood
But the shore along Your ocean?
Are You fire? Are You fury?
Are You sacred? Are You beautiful?
What do I know? What do I know of Holy?

What do I know of Holy?
What do I know of Holy?

I'm not a Christian, but I do find a lot of wisdom in the Bible and have an appreciation for the religion.

This is not exactly a "gospel" song, but I think you'll recognize it:

"I'm Gonna Fly" by Amy Grant
YouTube - amy grant - I'm Gonna Fly - The Collection

I think it's an excellent metaphor for recovery.

Thank you for sharing Outvoid. I like Amy Grant too... saw her in concert once
with husband Vince Gill. Her songs are very inspiring.
