Today's Reading: Song of Solomon 4-5; Galatians 3

Today's Thoughts: Are You So Foolish?

Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? Galatians 3:3

There are times that we all get discouraged when we try so hard in our homes and in our work. We want to do the best we can. We want to be giving and loving in our efforts.

We want to know that we are pleasing the Lord. We equate blessings with God's favor, thinking that it is our motives and actions that are being rewarded. So when things don't go well, we wonder what we are doing wrong. It is a common misconception, but God doesn't work like that. His grace is not gained by our good behavior.

Because we are under the covenant of grace, we are called into rest. That is why it is so important to hold on to His promises. He is always working in us and with us. His plan is that we almost become passive in the process. We get tired of trying as we get caught in the middle between His promises and our efforts.

Our hearts long to spend time with the Lord but there are always too many other factors competing for our attention. These factors take away our energy, and at times, make us feel like we can't do it all or we didn't do a good job anyway.

If God has given you promises, then He is the One who is responsible to fulfill them. God does not need our help or efforts. What He has started in the Spirit will not ever get accomplished in our flesh. It is the enemy who tries to discourage you. Satan will put thoughts in your mind of doubt and self defeat. Out loud, tell those evil forces that God has a plan regardless of your abilities. You choose to rest in His promises instead of worrying and doubting God by looking at yourself.

Tell the Lord that you are choosing to focus your eyes on Him. And then, get into His Word and claim those promises. His Word puts you on the Rock, and our only responsibility is to stand firm on that Rock.

Our mission is to evangelize the lost and awaken the saved to live empowered lives by the Work of God and His Holy Spirit. Daily Disciples Ministries makes a difference for the kingdom of God by teaching and training believers how to be in God's Word, how to pray and how to walk with Jesus every day, as His daily disciple.

Claiming promises..(I got away from this..and need to get going on it again!)

And resting in grace..in the One who has all power..

Sher, I'm glad this devotion was of help; I chose it primarily for myself---hoping others would identify too.

It can be a fine line between the 'doing' and the resting; and I've learned this lesson the hard way a few times in my life. Despite what I know and my past experiences I still tend to hold on to things that are best let go of.

I'm sure that this is just a normal human response to life. It usually takes me hitting some sort of brick wall before I realize that God can and will do for me...what I cannot do for myself. (or do for others)

Lately there have been some times when I am faced with my own limitations and/or limits connected to others persons, places or things.

It's actually a relief to just 'let things be' and wait for God to fill in the gaps. So many bible stories show what can happen when a person runs on only their own strength, using their 'own' best thinking etc etc. It never turns out well.

I remember reading about this topic many years ago in Sit, Walk, Stand by Watchman Nee. If I remember correctly, that book is a good study of Ephesians. I think I might need to read that one again.

Yes...

"let things be" and wait for God to fill in the gaps"

I like the sound of this!

I know a lot about belief, faith..and hope, but the "trust" part..eludes me when I try to

control outcomes. Thanks for the reminder...

I have been praying The Lord's Prayer lately. It just about says it all...and if it was good

enough for Jesus, it is surely good enough for me.

The book sounds great.. Sit,Walk,Stand

Thanks again C.
