Holding Patterns

Topic: Doubt/Fear

Key Passage: Mark 4:26-29

"But when the grain is ripe, at once he [the farmer] puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come." (Mark 4:29, ESV)

Do you ever feel like you're in a spiritual holding pattern? Every other Christian you know seems to be active in God's kingdom, but for you...there's nothing.

High school and college can feel like this for a lot of Christians. You're getting your first ideas of what you want to do with your life and you're anxious to start--but you've got these annoying classes in the way. Some are relevant, but others you could do without.

But God never took anyone anywhere by accident. The simple truth is that growth takes time. It's hard to see this looking at history because history only deals with the highlights. Do you know how long Joseph was in prison before Pharaoh released him? Two years. All we know about that time is how long it lasted. Did God forget about Joseph? Of course not. The better question is, did Joseph forget about God? No, he didn't--that's clear from the rest of his story.

Are you in a holding pattern now? Don't worry, God hasn't forgotten about you. He's placed you exactly where you need to be right now. The classes you're in, no matter how irrelevant they seem, are there for a reason. The people you're around now aren't mistakes either.

It's good to be looking toward the future to when God will do great things with you, but don't forget to look at where you are right now.

I'm not sure why I clicked on this post as I don't usually come over to the Christian threads but I'm glad I did today. The post above describes where I'm at in life exactly..a holding pattern.

I don't know what I'm going to do when I finish studying, if I finish...It's nice to be reminded that God knows what He's doing and I should just enjoy the ride.

Thanks.

Funny somehow I was brought here too, Citychick. And the same thing you quoted came out at me. Thanks for the reminder that I am where I am suppose to be.
