| A Father's Blessing
Key Passage: Genesis 28:1-9 Topic: Christian Living; God "God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you, that you may become a company of peoples" (Genesis 28:3, ESV). Dads are some of the most amazing people in the world! They provide for us, protect us, teach us and love us. One of the most precious things a dad can do for his children is to bless them. To bless someone is to speak well of him or her, and/or invoke divine favor upon him or her. In this part of the Genesis, we find Isaac sending Jacob away but blessing him first by calling upon God Almighty, El Shaddai, to bring about his blessing. Jacob's dad was asking God to bless his son in a mighty way. To make him a fruitful man, to have a family that would become great, and continue to fulfill the promise God made to Isaac's own father, Abraham. What a blessing it is for a son to be blessed by God because of his dad! But what if you don't know your father? Or what if you have a father who curses you instead of blessing you? God promised in His Word: that He is the Father of the fatherless (Psalm 68:5, ESV). So whether or not you are blessed by your earthly father, you can receive your Heavenly Father's blessing (Romans 4:7-8). NotReligion - Home |

Say a little prayer for my Dad. He's having another heart operation today, I don't know how many more of those his old heart can take, but I sure am thankful for every moment I have with him. I can't say enough good things about my children, or do enough for them. To be a father is the greatest gift I've ever received from God, to be a sober father is something to treasure and be grateful for a lifetime.

Astro, thanks for sharing about your dad. Please let us know how the surgery turns out and how your dad is doing. I'm sending some prayers; bless you for being such a good son and father yourself. ![]() :praying |

Dad's surgery went OK, although they weren't able to do everything intended, his blood wasn't thin enough so there was some concern about clotting. He'll be taking a higher dosage of blood thinners for the next couple weeks, then they'll try to complete the work they had planned. Many thanks for your prayers and support
