For the last five years I smoked weed every day.I took maybe two 3 weeks breaks in the last five years. I decided to quit for good and am determined to. I asked God to remove the lure of it and he did. I don't ever want to smoke again and do not have any urges to do so. It has been about two weeks sense I last smoked. The problem is about a week ago a distant friend commited suicide. I have no job have no money and I am stuggeling at college. I can't seem to focus. My depression has reached a point that I have never experienced and I have experienced major depression before. I pray and qoute scriptures to help me make it through each day.My parents and friends are unaware I am going through this and the people closest to me annoy me because of my depression. I think maybe the depression is a mix of withdraw symtoms from quitting smoking pot combined with sadness and stress. I beleive all things are possible through God who gives me strength and am hoping if I stay focused on God this depression will eventually pass. I do not want to go to a councler because of the money and also i am not a fan of anti depression medecine. Any advice would be appreciated. Last edited by Mst; 10-01-2008 at 09:15 PM. Hi, It's nice to see you back. That's great news about you not smoking anymore. I am so sorry about your friend. It's always hard to grieve but in these cases there is so much added pain for those left behind. Please accept my sincere condolences. There are some very wonderful folks over on this forum http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/grief-loss/ who have experienced serious loss and it might be a good idea to stop by and share your story over there. As always, you are very welcome to post here and I hope you will continue to let us know how you are doing. God bless you.

MST, welcome to the Christian Forum, there is another Forum you might also like to visit, and that is the Mental Health Forum, where many of us who have various problems with alcohol and or drugs, also suffer with various forms of depression, You have made the right first step in finding healing, placing your faith and trust in God. The next step might be communicating with others who have gone through what your are experiencing, and who will gladly share their personal experience, strength, and hope, with you. God Bless. |

Mst, it's going to take some time to get your body & brain working the way it's supposed to naturally. It's been exposed to a foriegn substance for so long. Here are somethings that will help you alot. A multi-vitamin every day (taken before bed time). DO NOT SKIP A DAY!!!! Lots of water. Regular meals. NA meetings....You need people around you that are sober/drug free....You need them for support...for guidance...for encouragement. As far as finances are concerned....you may qualify for public assistance while attending college. You should get into that office and apply ASAP. They may be able to give you emergency assistance. I hope the best for you.... One day at a time.... Remember....HALT Hungry Angry Lonely Tired When you recognize that you are hungry....eat. When you recognize that you are Angry....pray, call a friend, sit and let it pass, tell the Lord you feel angry when you are angry and to help. The Lords prayer every morning. When you are Lonely...go to a meeting, call a friend, go to the store, go to the library, anything to get out and find someone or something to be with that is healthy. What are your hobbies? Do one of those. When you are tired.....sleep.....nap if you have to. Prioritize your day, and sleeping hours. It's very important at this time that you sleep at least 8 hrs a night. Make yourself a daily and nightly routine. If you don't have a routine, you will be knocked off balance. Hoping the best for you, NH7 |

Hi, I need to ask a question, how did you afford to smoke weed if you have no job and no money? Weed costs alot of money and if you smoke everyday, well even at $20 a day that would sure run into money. Now that you have quit smoking ( I commend you on that decision, it is a wise one as drugs will only bring you down ) you can spend alot of your time studying. Then your grades will come up and you will feel better about yourself. Go to see your College Advisor, ask them if there are any part time jobs you can apply for. Put one foot ahead of the other, do positive things to improve your life, and I promise you, you won't feel so depressed and your life will get better and better. Noone can do it for you, this is your life & it will be what you make it. I will keep you in my prayers, He will give you the strength, Diane |
