Hi new... Congrats on your newfound sobriety...and welcome to SR! I've been a Christian most of my life and sober for two years. *Lol* I am not schooled in Bible references pertaining to addiction...but I know about addiction..and a little about the Bible. I would love to share a verse the Lord gave me two years ago... Jer 29:11 has become my life verse. I've printed the expanded to include verses 12-14. The Lord certainly, miraculously brought me out of "captivity" or I would not be here sharing at this moment... Others will be on shortly to share and pray with you... Love, ![]() IO Jeremiah 29, 11-14 11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity.

Welcome to SR. ![]() I'm pretty sure you can look up verses according to key words/topic at bible.com. The old fashioned way would be to use the concordance at the back of your bible and look them up the words 'drink' and 'wine' there. Congrats on your first day- a very important one to celebrate! |

Welcome New Creation! I used to live in San Diego for the first 37 yrs of my life. Proverbs makes mention of wine and the sting as well as other vrs relating to pharmekeia which I think is the use of drugs, relating it to witchcraft. blessings and welcome! Sheila |

Hello newcreation86 and Hadit Welcome to SR newcreation86, one of the best things the bible says about addictions (any addiction) When we try and then find that we can't do it on our own...Ask and His strength shall be our strength and by His strength we can do all things. On a day that I believed that and put it to the test...my whole life changed. When I can't He can. Thank You Lord for doing for me what I can't do for myself.

Hiya newcreation and hadit! Welcome along to SR. Newcreation, I am also fairly new in Christ (baptised in 2006) and have battling addiction the entire time I been walking with the Lord. Im still new in sobriety too - with only a few weeks under my belt, but I know that God is with me and providing my strength. Newcomers like yourselves never cease to provide me with inspiration and renewed hope in him. 2 Corinthians 12:9 And the Lord replied "My grace is suffiencient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness" Walk in his grace, his mercy and his forgiveness. Welcome, hope to see more posts from you both! Blessings. |
