Prayers for my Niece - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

My 14 year old niece's mother (my brother's exwife) committed suicide yesterday. Please pray for my neice and my brother. I am in shock. There is such a mix of emotions from sadness to anger.

Prayers to you and your family.

After the shock has worn off, I'd really recommend getting your niece into some type of counseling, or suicide survivors support. There is a lot of guilt involved when someone does this, even though it's not warranted. If she is anything like MY 14-year-old niece, she thinks the world revolves around her! It wouldn't be a long shot to think she may blame herself.

Thankfully, she is already in counseling so it will be good that she has already built up a relationship with the counselor. I think the reason she was going was because of issues with her mom. I am also hoping she doesn't blame herself. I think she understood that her mom was "sick".

What we think on the outside and what we think on the inside don't always match up. I know the rules and still I played the blame game. Knowing the rules just helped me past that game faster.

I'm so very sorry. We lost my niece last Feb to suicide. I'm so sorry. We are praying for you.

I will certainly keep your neice and brother in my Prayers. It's a Blessing that she already has built up a relationship with a counselor. She is definately going to need someone to talk to.

Thank you all, the funeral is tomorrow. I am thankful for all of your support and prayers. I so hope she is at peace finally.
