| cmc's prayer request
My husband uses an interferon drug three times a week to control the symptoms of multiple sclerosis. The drug is working very well for him but can cause joint pain, nerve pain, headache and fever. Lately, these side effects have become worse. Please pray for God to continue to bless the healing & protective effects of his medicine, and for these side effects to stop. Thanks in advance for your prayers. |

I will pray. How long has he been on this drug??? My husband was taking that drug for cancer and his side affects did go away after a couple months. Boy he was really sick in the beginning so I know and understand this.

I'm so sorry that your husband is suffering from the drugs. My prayers and thoughts are with you and him.

He's in great physical condition and barely needs a cane. If you met him you wouldn't suspect he has MS. He deals with some permanent MS symptoms all the time; sometimes they flare up, sometimes new symptoms may come and go. He can go from completely fine to completely incapacitated during a flare up. It can (and has been) life threatening. Two years ago after being transferred from the ER to a room, they called a code on him. That was my worst and my best day. I'm so grateful. To All: Thanks soooo much for your prayers! | |

Interferon was a wonder drug for my husband. It kept him cancer free for a year. At the time it was in a trial stage, so he was in an experiment. After a year of treatment he was taken off the drug. 3 months later he died. I was so angry thinking he could have lived longer with interferon. Yes I have heard of different kinds today. Sorry to bring up my husband, but him tolerating that drug I thought might help.

CMC, I pray that your husband John would be healed from his MS if it be the Lords will, and if not and he does have to continue on the interferon I pray that his side effects would be alleviated and he would feel better. Blessings as you journey through trial together. Sheila <>< |

| I want to thank you cmc for starting this thread. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus and some days are better than others. It's the 'others' that stink. I need to remind myself, especially tonight after a particularly painful day, that there are many, many others who suffer much more than I do. Thank you. I'd like to comment on how ironic it is that meds that help with one thing actually aggrevate other conditions. I have to take many meds daily, one being Prednisone. I look at my Mom, who also has Rheumatoid, but has had it for close to 30 years, and I see myself in 20 years or so. Due to the side effects of Prednisone, she has had numerous bones just break, without a fall or any other injury. She has had a broken pelvis twice and a hip that was broke in one place, and while she was simply walking to the bathroom, it broke in another place. She fell as a result and in the fall, broke her hand & thumb which made walking with her walker nearly impossible. Other side effects include paper thin skin that bleeds from rubbing up against something, weight gain, hair loss, and diabetes. I have watched my Mom go through all of this in just the past 5 months. I think we all, no matter how our health is, should count our Blessings and be grateful. I know I am, it could be a lot worse. I will Pray that God helps your Husband to have a peaceful, restful and painless sleep tonight and a day without pain tomorrow. I also will Pray for you. It is hard to watch someone we love so deeply be in pain. That's where my caretaking comes in. I want to make them all better. But I have to accept that I can't. God Bless & Thank God, . . . Just for Today, Judy
