| Hello family :)
Well my friend from rehab invited me to join this forum and I just could not resist :). I am looking forward to many engaging conversations about our Christian walks and how it relates to NA/AA. I lacked much of that in rehab. I remember when I was in rehab and there were no believers in Christ. Not ones that would profess his name anyways. My favorite line is "Who is your Father?" :). So I prayed to Jesus asking Him to send a Christian to speak with. Well God with his infinite humor decided to send a "few". :). Ask and ye shall receive :). The old King James just gets me excited in some strange way, couldn't tell ya whats up there. I love to hear insight into the bible and the spiritual realm. I consume that faster than that asian chick at the world hot dog eating contest. Well enough spew from me. God Bless and remember "KISS" Keep It Simple Stupid :).This one applies to me. Josh |

Welcome to SR and the Christians in Recovery forum. I have found that there are many people who struggle with God in the AA program. They have had such a bad experience with people claiming to be Christians or with the church upbringing that it is hard for them to see God as he really is: loving, caring and forgiving.

Welcome to SR, and congratulations on being clean and sober....... You wrote: " So I prayed to Jesus asking Him to send a Christian to speak with." Also you wrote: "I love to hear insight into the bible and the spiritual realm." I could not help but to jump in here and start a conversation about the Bible. I have found no where in Scripture where it says to pray to Jesus. Jesus himself prayed to the Father, and in his instructions to us we were to direct our prayers to the Father. We pray to the Father, in the Spirit, and using the authority that Jesus left us we can use His Name. What was your drug of choice? Do you attend any meetings? Do you have a sponsor? God bless you on your life of sobriety.............toad

Welcome Josh It is always nice to see another brother in Christ come to share. and now I will add my 2 cents *LOL* Quote:
To know Me is to know the Father. All authority in Heaven and on earth has been given unto me. I Am I am the Alpha and the Omega. The beginning and the end. and as the song says... God in three persons...Blessed Trinity When I pray and thank God, I am praying and thanking God as the situation requires. Thank You Father for sending Your son and for Your grace. Thank You Jesus for giving of Yourself so we may live. and Thank You Holy Spirit for the guidance You bring and give me daily. Though my words used may change... my prayers are all to God.

Hi Josh! Oh my, I soooo remember when I was in treatment there was not a single Christian in there. I lived with 42 women many who had been just released from jail and only believed in God but not Jesus Christ. I can remember praying that the Lord would send me a Christian. Finally I had surrendered my life to Christ and quit using. My walk was so sweet back then, the only comfort I could find was in HIS word. Welcome to this forum, you will enjoy it. Congrats on your getting clean and sober. I hope you will stick around and let us get to know you better. your Sister in Christ, Sheila <>< |

Welcome Josh. Isn't it nice to have a place to talk about Recovery and Christ? My 2 priority's in life today. My 2 cents on who we pray to. I agree with toad (that sounds funny, "I agree with toad") my understanding is we pray to our Father in Heaven in the name of His Son our Savior Jesus Christ. Christ is the mediator. His example for me is in the garden of Gethsemane amongst others when Jesus himself prayed to hour Heavenly Father. In Matthew 6:9-13 Jesus tells us how to pray: 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. |
