Hey Toad ---

I don't know if you're question was genuine, or if Koharski has the answer for you, and I meant to post this the other day.....but I seem to be having a lot of senior moments lately....more and more with each passing day....grrrr But, here goes......

"Tell me something.........how can someone with financial trouble help me with my alcohol problem?..."

It's really quite simple; most Celebrate Recovery groups have one large group where Praise & Worship happens, and then they break down into smaller, problem-oriented groups.....those with financial troubles; those with drug addiction problems; those with alcohol problems; sexual abuse problems.....hurts, hangups, etc. .... And there's always at least one person in each group who is an overcomer; worked the steps, and leads the small group meetings......

Those small group meetings also meet at other times during the week to do step-studies.....so that all (hopefully all) can someday say, as I can say' "Hi, my name is Noelle; I am a believer who has overcome my struggles with alcohol/drugs."

So, Toad, does this sorta answer your question? If not.....(what I should have done in the first place) check out Celebrate Recovery's web site....there you should get all the answers you may want and/or need.

I believe that I am going to be trying it soon. It is on a Friday where I am at & I have had other things going on & have not been able to make it. I am going to try for this Friday.

Celebrate Recovery is the best thing that has ever happened to me as far as my recovery goes. I am a regular Tues. night goer. I drop the NA meetings because there was no spirituality there. To me a Higher Power is Jesus and not some doorknob or the next person sitting next to me with 20 years soberity.

I agree with what you say but I have also found a use for doorknobs and the person sitting next to me. NA and AA can be additions to CR. Each meeting...CR or NA is only as good as the info shared and then putting that info into action.
I know who is my Lord and God and no matter where I go, He is with me.

For you CR may be all you need. For others... I wouldn't throw NA out the window, as it has helped many find and hold a recovery from addictions.

Smile Studying the Bible as members of any 12 Step or recovery fellowship

We have been organizing study groups that have a variety of formats and names. Some call themselves Big Book/Bible Study Groups. Some Men's Step Study Groups. Some The James Club after the original A.A. group of Christians in the earliest Akron program. The bottom line is that Christians, Bible students, and church-goers need not leave A.A. or other fellowships just because someone says he has a higher power that is a tree, or that A.A. is "spiritual but not religious," or that you can believe in "Something," "Somebody," or nothing at all. That's all true today. But it doesn't hold a candle to the successes and believing program of the earliest days. They believed in abstinence, reliance on the Creator, coming to Him through Christ, obeying His will by walking in love and eliminating sinful conduct, growing in fellowship through Bible study, prayer, seeking guidance, and reading literature. They attained a documented 75% success rate and set the pace for early A.A.'s astonishing successes and cures by the power of God. If they did it in the 1930's, you can do it today. You don't have to run from history. If you wish, you just need to learn it, apply it, and stand tall whether you are standing in church, in a recovery group, in a 12 Step fellowship, or in a Bible fellowship. I have, and it certainly worked for me.
