Feeling Gutted - Need Prayers

I've been battling withdrawals from Lorazapm and trying to get a withdrawal program going and now have found that my 10 year old dog has an inoperable tumor on his urethra. It's just been me and him for the last four years since his brother, my other baby, died from a brain tumor.

He's been my pal. I've never been in this house alone before. I got the two dogs right after I moved into my townhouse. I just need some comforting prayers. Prayers to help me cope with the inevitable. Thanks.

I'm sorry to hear your dog is so ill, and about your fears of being alone. I'll pray for your pet and for you too. The Serenity Prayer has been such a wonderful way for me to sort out my own prayer needs and helps me to accept God's will in my life.

(Full Original) Serenity Prayer

by Reinhold Niebuhr (1892-1971)

God, give us grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Amen.

I am so sorry your dog is so ill. It is sooo hard to lose a dog or any pet. My dog who was 12 died on 12/19/07. It was really hard for me. I pray you would find comfort in the fact that not even a sparrow falls from the sky that the lord does not see.

I pray you would get some rest and sleep no longer taking your lorazepam as well.

blessings, Sheila

In our sadness we can find comfort.
I lost both a dog and a cat last year. In part I understand your feelings.
In the darkness of life, the Lord shall shine brighter.

This is what I have found and you will find it as well.
In your sorrow, look up and the Lord will provide you comfort.
You are not alone, the Lord is with you always.

Deuteronomy 31:6 b
... for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

Hebrews 13:5 b
... because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

Love and prayers from one dog mom to another. I can't tell in the picture... are they Akitas? Shiba Inu? NO matter what the breed, dogs capture my heart. I have learned so much from mine about unconditional love and the simple sheer joy of being alive.

I remember a time when the pain of losing one was so great that I swore I would never get another one because I didn't want to feel that kind of pain again. Fortunately, my grief subsided and I was able to move on to owning other dogs. Each is a different personality, and all have touched my life deeply.

Hugs
Cats

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. Ironically, my dog also developed a tumor on his uretha over the summer. We don't want to operate because of the damage that it can cause to him. We did put him on Prednisone for a month and it shrunk the tumor significantly. Now we have him on a no-carb diet and a lot of vitamins and he seems to be doing quite well. We used a holistic vet for the vitamins. Our regular vet is not happy because she thinks the tumor should be removed now that it has shrunk, but the surgeon says there is a chance they will have to remove his genitals if they do. Well, being a guy I have to advocate on his behalf in this regard and decline. We'll see how things go.

You are in my prayers. Mike

:

Of course. My heart goes out to you...but you also need other support.

Do you have "people" friends as well? Recovering from any addiction is hard enough

without facing a loss...you need support now.

How about church or a 12 Step group?

Love,

Sherry

Hi Cats, they are American Eskimos. I've had Clive 10 years. Buster passed away almost 4 years ago.

I can so relate to what you said about never wanting another pet because I never want to feel this pain again. The worry is just eating at me. He had a very bad night and has blood in his urine.

Thanks for all the kind words from everyone! The scripture is reassuring and does give me comfort in that I am not alone.
