I have been here off and on for a couple of years and have actually quit drinking for 109 days earlier this year. I got back into it and it just nothing but cause trouble for me. I am making another attempt to quit and starting out here at day 1. I have got to stop, I don't control drinking, it controls me and I am stopping, drawing th eline in the sand right now. So pray for me, as I begin this again.

Sounds like you are ready to be done with drinking, for good and all, the way I recovered from alcoholism was by having a spiritual awakening-psychic change, I did not make this happen, God did, working the 12 steps outlined in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous put me in conscious contact with this power, maybe it would work for you as well.

If you are alcoholic, and I put the importance on the word "if," then you might try Alcoholics Anonymous. The Big Book says that alcohol was but a symptom of other problems in our life. Through the 12 steps of AA I am learning to trust God, clean house (my life), and help others. After several days, one day at a time, I have come to the conclusion that serenity is my drug of choice. I wouldn't trade one day sober for a hundred of my best drinking days. It would just be a bad trade. I don't want to go back to the way it was. I used to quit forever.....I would do it over and over. It never worked. When I learned to just not take the first drink and live life one day at a time, I was able to stack up days, weeks, and months. It's not what we quit that counts, but what we start. If you haven't already, find an AA group where you feel comfortable.......find someone with some sobriety and serenity that you desire to be like, and hold on for the thrill of your life as you "Trudge the Road of Happy Destiny."........ Thanks for sharing........you have helped me to not take that first drink today. Thanks for letting me share also...............toad
