| Please pray for me
Well, you all probably saw this coming. I had 7.5 months..got through what I seemed the hardest 7.5months ever reasonably strong. But I fell last Thurs. Drank Thurs, Friday and last night. I asked God to forgive me, got on my knees this morning for a renewed willingness to move past this. The 7.5 months did give me strength in God..but I was a fool to think I could rely on that past strength to bounce back. I need His renewed strength today. All I can say is I put a relationship or lack thereof before God. I knew I had a weakness in that area..self worth, self esteem...relationships tap on that..but I expected God to help me with that but never guessed I could use that against God to fall. IOW, I feel that I "conditioned" my sobriety on that I would not have a relationship fail again. anyway, back to day one but I feel the 7.5months was not in vain since I do remember the strength..and pray for that again...one day at a time. There is hope to "get back up"..alchoholic or not. I don't want to say God will bless my sin..of course not but He is a God of amazing forgiveness and the same hope we have at 20years sober is to the one with one day. |

You learned an important lesson. Daily we need ask... give us this day our daily bread (needs for the day) Prayers are still with you.

Praying for you (((Mercedes))) Keep pressing on ... remember progress, not perfection. You can do it! * "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9) * Repentance. We must decide to change, to turn from our sins. "Therefore this is what the Lord says, 'If you repent, I will restore you that you may serve me.'" (Jeremiah 15:19a) The Results of Forgiveness The Bible promises the following benefits of God's forgiveness: * Happiness. When we know God's forgiveness, we are blessed (happy). "Blessed (happy) is he whose transgressions are forgiven, who sins are covered. Blessed (happy) is the man whose sin the Lord doesn't count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit." (Psalm 32:1,2) * God chooses not to hold our sins against us. Another result of forgiveness is that God doesn't keep a record of our sins, He does not hold them against us. Because the blood of Christ covered our sins, God chooses to put them out of His mind. "I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more." (Isaiah 43:25) * God removes our sin from us. "It is possible for the Lord to look at us without seeing our sins because when he forgave us, he removed our sins as far as the east is from the west" (Psalm 103:12) * We can forgive ourselves. When we are forgiven, we can forgive ourselves and go on with our lives. "Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 3:13,14) |
