| How does sin control us?
How does sin control us? How does addictions take over our life? In the below verse, it is said that Jesus was telling Peter of how he would come to die. As I was thinking on that verse, I was reflecting on how sin had done the same in my life... Stretched me out, pulled me in and had me going places I did not want to go. If not for the Lord's touch and reaching out to save me... I would still be in that same pit of sin. I would be drowning in the mud and mire of my past with no way to get out. Though the verse is said to foretell of Peters death... they would take him away by force and nail him to a cross... sin had also robed Peter with the stains of his lies when asked...Do you know Him? If not for the Lord pulling Peter from his sins, Peter would have died a spiritual death long before his death of the flesh. John 21:18 I tell you the truth, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go." Me before accepting the Lord... Isaiah 57:20 But the wicked are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest, whose waves cast up mire and mud. Me as the Lord pulled me out of my past sinful ways... Psalm 40:2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. and I hope that this is who the Lord finds me as today... Psalm 40:3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD. 4 Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods. 5 Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare. Thank You Lord for doing for me what I could not do for myself.

I love this post. I recently was importing my CD's to my mp3 player and I came across all the U2 albums. My favorite is the old album War, and my favorite song is titled 40. It is based on Psalm 40. I love to recommend this song to other Christians, many of whom do not know U2's religious music. The odd thing, last night I just had my mp3 player set to play this album through, and it was so low I had forgotten it was still on until this song began to play. Then I turned it up and really felt God with me as the song played through. "I waited patiently for the Lord He inclined and heard my cry He brought me up out of the pit Out of the miry clay I will sing, sing a new song [repeat] How long to sing this song [repeat] How long.[repeat] How long...to sing this song He set my feet upon a rock And made my footsteps firm Many will see Many will see and fear I will sing, sing a new song [repeat] How long to sing this song [repeat] How long...to sing this song"
