Add your favorite hymn that speaks to your heart and helps your recovery and lets you know just how precious you are to God. Be sure to add the author if known. AMAZING GRACE Amazing grace! how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see. 'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved; how precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed! The Lord has promised good to me, his word my hope secures; he will my shield and portion be as long as life endures. Through many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come; 'tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home. Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease, I shall possess, within the veil, A life of joy and peace. The world shall soon dissolve like snow, The sun refuse to shine; But God, who called me here below, Shall be forever mine. When we've been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun, we've no less days to sing God's praise than when we'd first begun. Words: John Newton, 1779 (stanzas 1-6); stanza 7 by John Rees (nineteenth century) |

Words & Music: Helen H. Lemmel, 1922 This hymn was first published in Glad Songs, by the British National Sunday School Union. Its lyrics were inspired by the Gospel tract Focused, by Lilias Trotter, which included these words: So then, turn your eyes upon Him, look full into His face and you will find that the things of earth will acquire a strange new dimnes Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see? There’s a light for a look at the Savior, And life more abundant and free! Refrain Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace. Through death into life everlasting He passed, and we follow Him there; Over us sin no more hath dominion— For more than conquerors we are! Refrain His Word shall not fail you—He promised; Believe Him, and all will be well: Then go to a world that is dying, His perfect salvation to tell! Refrain

I just love Blessed Assurance. I love a lot of them but this one popped in my head! Text: Fanny J. Crosby, 1820-1915 1. Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, born of his Spirit, washed in his blood. Refrain: This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long; this is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long. 2. Perfect submission, perfect delight, visions of rapture now burst on my sight; angels descending bring from above echoes of mercy, whispers of love. (Refrain) 3. Perfect submission, all is at rest; I in my Savior am happy and blest, watching and waiting, looking above, filled with his goodness, lost in his love. (Refrain) |

'Because He Lives' Words and music by William J. Gaither God sent His son, they called Him Jesus; He came to love, heal and forgive; He lived and died to buy my pardon, An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives! Chorus Because He lives, I can face tomorrow, Because He lives, all fear is gone; Because I know He holds the future, And life is worth the living, Just because He lives! How sweet to hold a newborn baby, And feel the pride and joy he gives; But greater still the calm assurance: This child can face uncertain days because He Lives! Chorus Because He lives, I can face tomorrow, Because He lives, all fear is gone; Because I know He holds the future, And life is worth the living, Just because He lives! And then one day, I'll cross the river, I'll fight life's final war with pain; And then, as death gives way to vict'ry, I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives! Chorus Because He lives, I can face tomorrow, Because He lives, all fear is gone; Because I know He holds the future, And life is worth the living, Just because He lives!

| For me, being a newer Christian... they are new hymns *LOL* I do like the traditional hymns very much but I also like the Worship songs on the blue CD as well. Mike W Smith, Sonic Flood, Mercy Me, Jars of Clay.... I was feeling down one day and showed up at the evening service about 20 minutes early. The retired pastor and his wife were at the piano..she was playing and they both were singing. Pastor Ralph says... Hey come on over and join us. I don't remember the song but just standing there and singing out praises sure did lift my spirits. The pastor's wife had a favorite song.... Words & Music: C. Austin Miles, March 1912 This hymn was sung in the 1984 movie “Places in the Heart,” which won two Academy Award In The Garden I come to the garden alone While the dew is still on the roses And the voice I hear falling on my ear The Son of God discloses. Refrain And He walks with me, and He talks with me, And He tells me I am His own; And the joy we share as we tarry there, None other has ever known. He speaks, and the sound of His voice, Is so sweet the birds hush their singing, And the melody that He gave to me Within my heart is ringing. Refrain I’d stay in the garden with Him Though the night around me be falling, But He bids me go; through the voice of woe His voice to me is calling. Refrain

Good ones! Another favorite is VICTORY IN JESUS I heard an old, old story, How a Savior came from glory, How He gave His life on Calvary To save a wretch like me; I heard about His groaning, Of His precious blood's atoning, Then I repented of my sins And won the victory. O victory in Jesus, My Savior, forever. He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood; He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him, He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood. I heard about His healing, Of His cleansing pow'r revealing. How He made the lame to walk again And caused the blind to see; And then I cried, "Dear Jesus, Come and heal my broken spirit," And somehow Jesus came and bro't To me the victory. O victory in Jesus, My Savior, forever. He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood; He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him, He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood. I heard about a mansion He has built for me in glory. And I heard about the streets of gold Beyond the crystal sea; About the angels singing, And the old redemption story, And some sweet day I'll sing up there The song of victory. O victory in Jesus, My Savior, forever. He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood; He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him, He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood. Lyrics and Composer: Eugene M. Bartlett, Sr. |

He opened my eyes, healed my broken spirit and brought to me the Victory. How I can't say because it is beyond my understanding. The bible tells me he did it with grace, mercy and love... 3 things I did not know of before Jesus came into my life. He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him

SINCE JESUS CAME INTO MY HEART Words: Rufus H. McDaniel, 1914. McDaniel wrote these words after the death of his son. Music: Charles H. Gabriel, 1914 What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought Since Jesus came into my heart! I have light in my soul for which long I had sought, Since Jesus came into my heart! Refrain Since Jesus came into my heart, Since Jesus came into my heart, Floods of joy o’er my soul Like the sea billows roll, Since Jesus came into my heart. I have ceased from my wandering and going astray, Since Jesus came into my heart! And my sins, which were many, are all washed away, Since Jesus came into my heart! Refrain I’m possessed of a hope that is steadfast and sure, Since Jesus came into my heart! And no dark clouds of doubt now my pathway obscure, Since Jesus came into my heart! Refrain There’s a light in the valley of death now for me, Since Jesus came into my heart! And the gates of the City beyond I can see, Since Jesus came into my heart! Refrain I shall go there to dwell in that City, I know, Since Jesus came into my heart! And I’m happy, so happy, as onward I go, Since Jesus came into my heart! Refrain

JUST AS I AM WITHOUT ONE PLEA (John 6:35, 37) Words by Charlotte Elliott, 1789-1871 Music by William B. Bradbury, 1816-1868 Without question, this hymn has touched more hearts and influenced more people for Christ than any other song ever written. The text was born within the soul of an invalid woman who wrote these words out of intense feelings of uselessness and despair. Charlotte Elliott was born in Clapham, England, on March 18, 1789. As a young person she lived a carefree life, gaining popularity as a portrait artist and writer of humorous verse. By the time she was thirty, however, her health began to fail rapidly, and soon she became a bedridden invalid for the remaining years of her life. With her failing health came great feelings of despondency. In 1822 a noted Swiss evangelist, Dr. Caesar Malan, visited the Elliott home in Brighton, England. His visit proved to be a turning point in Charlotte's life. In counselling Miss Elliott about her spiritual and emotional problems, Dr. Malan impressed upon her this truth, "You must come just as you are, a sinner, to the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world." Throughout the remainder of her life, Miss Elliott celebrated every year the day on which her Swiss friend had led her to a personal relationship with Christ, for she considered it to be her spiritual birthday. Although she did not write her text for this hymn until 1836, fourteen years after her conversion experience, it is apparent that she never forgot the words of her friend, for they form the very essence of this hymn. 1. Just as I am, without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me, and that thou bidst me come to thee, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. 2. Just as I am, and waiting not to rid my soul of one dark blot, to thee whose blood can cleanse each spot, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. 3. Just as I am, though tossed about with many a conflict, many a doubt, fightings and fears within, without, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. 4. Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind; sight, riches, healing of the mind, yea, all I need in thee to find, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. 5. Just as I am, thou wilt receive, wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve; because thy promise I believe, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. 6. Just as I am, thy love unknown hath broken every barrier down; now, to be thine, yea thine alone, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. |

| No matter the storms of life...Jesus is with us.
Though a newer song (1994) I find it is written in a style like the older hymns. The Anchor Holds Words and music by Lawrence Chewning and Ray Boltz I have journeyed Through the long, dark night Out on the open sea By faith alone Sight unknown And yet His eyes were watching me CHORUS: The anchor holds Though the ship is battered The anchor holds Though the sails are torn I have fallen on my knees As I faced the raging seas The anchor holds In spite of the storm Ive had visions Ive had dreams Ive even held them in my hand But I never knew They would slip right through Like they were only grains of sand CHORUS I have been young But I am older now And there has been beauty That these eyes have seen But it was in the night Through the storms of my life Oh, thats where God proved His love to me CHORUS (repeat)

Another newer song that touches me as well is the Lighthouse. Here in Boston they have a lighthouse that is the last of the manned lighthouses. All other lighthouses have been automated and with GPS..lighthouses could end up being a thing of the past. We need to continue taking the light that shines and share it with the world so that others can sail through life safe...Don't let the light go out. The Lighthouse (Jesus is The Lighthouse) Words and Music by Robbie Hinson © 1971 - All rights reserved John 8:12 "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." There's a lighthouse on the hillside that overlooks life's sea. When I'm tossed it sends out a light that I might see. And the light that shines in darkness now will safely lead me home, If it wasn't for the lighthouse, my ship would sail no more. Chorus And I thank God for The Lighthouse, I owe my life to Him. Jesus is The Lighthouse and from the rocks of sin, He has shown the light around me, so that I might clearly see. If it wasn't for The Lighthouse, Where would this ship be? Everyone that lives around us, says tear that old lighthouse down, The big ships don't sail this way anymore, ain't no use in it standing round. But then my mind goes back to that stormy night, when just in time I saw the light With the light from that old lighthouse, that stands there on the hill. Chorus And I thank God for The Lighthouse, I owe my life to Him. Jesus is The Lighthouse and from the rocks of sin, He has shown the light around me, so that I might clearly see. If it wasn't for The Lighthouse, Where would this ship be?

Thanks Best, I love "The Lighthouse". My favorite version features the late Kenny Hinson. Another older song that has a lot of meaning to me is "God on the Mountain", and since I just love old tyme gospel... the McKameys is my favorite version. God On The Mountain Words: Lynda Randle Life is easy when you're up on the mountain And you've got peace of mind like you've never known. But then things change and you're down in the valley. Don't lose faith for you're never alone. For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley. When things go wrong, He'll make it right. And the God of the good times is still God in the bad times. The God of the day is still God in the night. You talk of faith when you're up on the mountain. Oh but the talk comes easy when life's at its best. But it's down in the valley of trials and temptation That's when faith is really put to the test. For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley. When things go wrong, He'll make it right. And the God of the good times is still God in the bad times. The God of the day is still God in the night. For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley. When things go wrong, He'll make it right. And the God of the good times is still God in the bad times. The God of the day is still God in the night. The God of the day is still God in the night. |

Another song that touches my heart with a truth. Chuck Lawrence wrote the music and lyrics for 'He Grew The Tree' in 1982. Barbara Mandrell recorded the song... THAT EARNED SEVERAL DOVE AWARDS. HE GREW THE TREE HE MOLDED AND BUILT A SMALL LONELY HILL THAT HE KNEW WOULD BE CALLED CALVARY. THEN HE MADE THE SEED THAT WOULD GROW TO BE THORNS THAT WOULD MAKE HIS SON BLEED. THEN HE MADE A GREEN STEM GAVE IT LEAVES AND THEN GAVE IT SUNSHINE AND RAIN AND SHELTERED IT WITH MOSS. HE GREW THE TREE HE KNEW WOULD BE USED TO MAKE THE OLD RUGGED CROSS. CHORUS NOTHING TOOK HIS LIFE WITH LOVE HE GAVE IT. HE WAS CRUCIFIED ON A TREE THAT HE CREATED. WITH GREAT LOVE FOR MAN GOD GAVE WITH HIS PLAN. HE GREW THE TREE SO THAT WE MIGHT GO FREE. WITH TEARS IN HIS EYES GOD LOOKED DOWN THROUGH TIME SAW HIM SPAT UPON REJECTED AND MOCKED. STILL HE KNEW THE TREE HE KNEW WOULD BE USED TO MAKE THE OLD RUGGED CROSS. CHORUS NOTHING TOOK HIS LIFE WITH LOVE HE GAVE IT. HE WAS CRUCIFIED ON A TREE THAT HE CREATED. WITH GREAT LOVE FOR MAN GOD GAVE WITH HIS PLAN. HE GREW THE TREE SO THAT WE MIGHT GO FREE. (ending) STILL HE GREW THE TREE HE KNEW WOULD BE USED TO MAKE THE OLD RUGGED CROSS.
