| My daughter needs lots of prayers.
I just found out tonite, that my daughter is addicted to oxycontin. She has been using for a while, and is dependent upon them. We are going to detox her at home, cold turkey. I posted in another forum that I detoxed cold turkey almost 11 years ago, so I will need to dig deep into the memory banks for help. This is breaking my heart. The pain is so deep, I can't stop the tears. I'm watching my beautiful baby turn into an addict before my eyes. I don't want her to be like me. I don't want her to go through the pain and degredation of addiction that I went through. Please pray that we get through the next 4 or 5 days and for her to start going to meetings. To make this worse, tomorrow is her high school graduation. She'll be withdrawling through it. this sucks.

Laurie, I am so sorry to hear this and I know your family already has many issues to deal with. But, I'm sure your girl is as strong as you are and she will get through this.

(((Laurie))) God has no grandchildren. Dang... you know, I hated that saying for a while. But I have come to believe my addicted children ARE on a path, that He does walk with them, arms wrapped tightly around them. He is the one to whom they can turn when the pain gets so big. You have shown them, by example what getting clean looks like. I see that a lot in families... that the kids CAN get clean because the ones before them show them the way. It is interesting, in my family there is a lot of addiction. But the getting clean and sober looks VERY MUCH alike. Most of us got sober CT and stayed that way without a program. Not because there was anything about program we didn't like (most of us didn't get to experience that at the right time), but mostly because that was how it was modeled for us. You are a good model. I trust that between that and her HP, your daughter will find sobriety. Graduation may be tough. But if you think about it... if she got REALLY sick, she'd have to miss it, and if the WD are too great, perhaps that will be one of the options. You are in my prayers. (((hugs)))

Talking with her last night, we started talking about God and praying. She is really angry with God. apparently she has been for a long time. She said he took me away from her when she was little, he took her dad away from her for most of her life, He let Aunt Cathy die when she needed her most, and she said every time she prays to him, things just get worse. I tried to explain to her that it wasn't God. It was God that brought me and her dad back to her. And he took Aunt Cathy home, because her pain was too great to bear. Last night was so emotional, that I don't think anything sank in. Hopefully this weekend we can sort some things out. Thanks for the prayers.

I will be praying for your daughter & all of your family to get through this. Did you tell your daughter prayers are anawered in God's time not ours? I was praying fr my ex husband for 30 yrs & a month ago he called ( after 30 yrs ) to tell me he has been clean & sober for 5 yrs this Sept. I was in ecruciating pain from a severe bk problem for 20 yrs & crippled for the last 5. I prayed & prayed to be healed & 2 yrs ago today I had a Spinal Revision. I am no longer bent in half & crippled & can walk unaided plus the pain I was in has been reduced by 2/3rds. If both of those 2 things aren't miracles I don't know what is. All I can say is God has His perfect timing. Love & Prayers, Diane |

Namommy, I will pray for you and your daughter. My daughter detoxed herself cold turkey a couple of times. I know your daughter will be able to do it. By the grace of God. Try some chamomile tea and or tension tamer tea. My daughter did that along with tylenol pm. There is also a sleepy time tea. Go to the tea section.......they are wellness teas. You also might want to try the GNC store for some vitamins or whatever else they can recommend. Once she gets through the next couple of days she'll start to feel better. Keeping you both in prayer..............Lo |

Thanks for all the prayers. Things seem to be OK right now. last night she did go out drinking, and along with it came ALOT of drama between her and her best friend. (Her friend is also in recovery from oxy's) She has been sleeping all day today, but then again, so have I. I'll keep you posted.
