| It just occured to me.....
I'm always praying for Gods will, and the power to carry that out. In my mind it's always been some vague, future event or action. I dunno, missionary work or something. Perhaps, just the way I'm living is Gods will. Raising my daughters, going to AA, helping other drunks. Hmmm.

Glass, What you shared is of great help to me personally. I've been waiting to make the next move in my life but I realize that I am just where I need to be for _now_ and He will use me as He sees fit. I know this, yet I can still find myself waiting for something else to do 'for God'. I don't know who said this but I've always liked the phrase "bloom where you are planted." Quote:

Personally, I think the toughest missionary work is the planting of seeds in my own family and with my neighbors. A new land with new people who don't know me or maybe never seen a baldheaded guy with a Boston accent... it could be easy to get their attention. How do I get my neighbor to even come out of their house to say hello? Yes missions start right here in our own little corner of the world.

Thnaks for your share, it's taken me a while to realise that as well, I always thought that I should be saving the world, both when I was drinking and at the beginning of my recovery. I now realise, (most of the time) that as long as I'm willing to help, am available to others and do the best I can each day then I'm doing His work. Little things can make big differences, smiling at someone at the bus stop, saying hello to someone -I know that people doing that used to help me when I was drinking, now I hope I help them. I have toTrust in God, I think he didn't get me this far to let me fall flat on my face again. His will for me is for me to get to know Him through my daily life and my approach to others. |

I was struggling with this many years ago. From an early age I wanted to be a missionary to Africa. I got married at 16 (shotgun) and had two baies by the age of 19. I worried that I had missed my chance at doing God's will. My mother set me straight about that. She told me to look at 2/12 year old Jen kissing her baby sister Cheryl's tiny feet and said "Your highest calling is there, to raise these babies well and in the knowledge of the Lord." Good advice, and I did. Love, ![]() IO

It is by God's grace alone that they have turned out to be the kind of men that they are, because the odds were against them. They both grew up watching an abusive marriage, and an addicted father who often used scripture to justify his actions against all of us and demand that he be 'respected'. I am thankful for God's hand on our lives and for the many wonderful Christian mentors that He graciously placed in our paths over the years.

i like the sign on the door of my church that leads to the outside world: "You Are Now Entering the Mission Field" when you walk in or out of your door, you're entering the mission field ... everyone you come into contact with is influenced by you in one way or another ... you being in these forums is encouraging, just know that and God Bless you

Hi Glass Prisioner. I was in detox for 7 days, I was very very ill with withdrawals. But i found that even in there he 'used' me as an example to others. i told them all I was a christian and that all the good things that were happening to me were because of the Lords will in my life. I even prayed with a few of them. I spoke openly for the first time that I was in love with the Lord. (I used to keep it to myself) I dont know what impact I was made on the others in there, but I did get a call to say that they all mentioned that they missed me when I was gone and the place seemed 'different'. I give all the glory to God! So no matter where you are or what your calling may be all I know is that we have to be ready all the time to do what the lord asks. It may be just one act of kindness that touches someones life and makes them call upon the Lord. Take care and stay strong in the faith!
