| Prayers for AH please
I'd like to ask for prayers for my husband who has been in prison 1-year today. It's also his 40th birthday, and his 1-year clean date today. He has 9 more months to go before being released. He seems to be doing ok, goes to church services twice a week, and attends NA meetings a couple times a week. Theres a local church group that comes in around the 15th of each month and serves cake and ice cream to the prisoners who have a birthday that month. They each get a treat bag that has stuff like shampoo, toothpaste, candy bars & crackers. (I'm so thankful for these ministries.) He saved his money for a couple months to be able to buy a pair of tennis shoes, which shows some responsiblity. He's built a lot of crafts for me and the kids and our families. A lighthouse, a couple gazebos, a jewelry box, a log cabin for my son's birthday. They have to roll up newspapers real tiny, then cut into strips and glue together. Looks like small pieces of round wood. Then they stain with instant coffee ... looks like wood varnish. Very time consuming. He says he is filled with so much love now that hes never felt before and he's serious about his sobriety this time. (I print out some of the encouraging posts here for him. When I get a little slack and haven't sent anything, he'll ask me to send something from the computer for him. He says it means a lot and is encouraging to him. Thank you for the hope you share.) Please keep him in your prayers that he'll continue to grow in the Lord and seek to stay clean when he's released. Thank you. |

Dear Ray Sending prayers up for your husband right now that he will continue to grow in the Lord and use this time to read the bible and go to meetings and other activities that will help him stay strong when he is out. Does he have a bible that he can read easily and understand? My AH says this is one of his best tools in fighting his addiction (he has been sober 7 months now) and contributes his ability to stay clean on keeping his mind and spirit full of the Word of God (we use the New Living Translation - its very easy to read and understand). We underestimate the power of God's word to fight the enemy. Prayers are being sent up for you as well, that the Lord will bless you and supply your needs. Have a great day and keep us posted! |

TX -- Thank you for the prayers. He has a Life Recovery Bible my sister sent him as a christmas present. He says it is really helpful and is easy to understand. I was a little worried cause he's always been particular about only having the KJV, and this one is not, I think its the NLT, but he's only had good things to say. Thank you for sharing about your H. 7 months sober is great; that gives me hope. My AH was in 3 rehabs previously, and now prison. I'm praying this time is his time to change. CMC -- Thank you. It's hard for me to believe it's been a year. It has really flown by. |

Happy Birthday Keep up the great job. As I read the post of your progress I am feeling that you found a true spirit of love. The joy that fills me just thinking of that is wonderful. Reading about the crafts you make and having bought some things from a local craft store at the state prison down the road from me... I am sure they are true works of art. If the ministry that comes by is from breakpoint or follows with the same kind of program, I am sure you can gather many contacts for support both now and when you get out. Chuck Colson has a great program that is worth looking into. http://www.breakpoint.org Prayers go with you my brother in Christ.

Amen to that Over It. His word is faithful and his promises are true unto them that believe... It sure feels good just to say it, and say it again. Sherry
