Question TOPIC: How Is Your Connection To God Or Your Higher Power?

Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.

By the grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found
it necessary to take a drink of
alcohol since 8-11-90.

For that and you I am truely
grateful.

How is your connection to God or
your HP?

"I am a firm believer in both guidance
and prayer. But I am fully aware, and
humble enough, I hope, to see there
may be nothing infallible about my
guidance.

"The minute I figure I have got a
perfectly clear pipeline to God, I have
become egotistical enough to get into
real trouble. Nobody can cause more
needless grief than a power-driver who
thinks he has got it straight from God."

After reading this myself and thinking
about it....I too had to invaluate my
my own thoughts and motives.....

My connection or pipeline to God is
and on going work in progress. I
have always known my HP was there
but over time I have come to believe
even more that He is Above me guiding
me in the right direction......

BUT....

Only thru prayer and meditation and
having that conscience contact with
Him on a daily bases and praying for
His Will and not mine that I will eventually
recieve the answers that is fitting to my
needs.

Not emmediately or as quickly as Id like
it many times....but allowing patiance
to prevail...to recieve His gifts in His
time and not mine.

There's no room for a "big head" or ego
builders, or cockiness.

Thanks for letting me share.

I agree, but if one believes in the God of the bible then it IS possible to have a "pipeline" to God. If we know what He has to say to us through the holy scriptures, we can know the truth. To accept Jesus as my Savior- I accept the gift and provision given that I may come freely to God.
It does not grant me the right nor allow me to be rude or prideful towards others....that is sinful behavior, but if it's genuine faith the "fruits of the spirit" are quite the opposite.
Being a Christian does not always guarantee a perfected individual!! LOL We can keep trying though and STILL never lose our connection to God. Just as some are in different stages of their recovery, so are some people in different stages of their walk with the Lord. It's all about how far along one has come and if one is truly a follower. We all can slip. It does not make me any better than anyone else to have that 'pipeline' it just means I have found a lifeline that gives me access to God-which if anything should make me more humble.(step 1)

Every day I ask God to kindle within me the fire of His love, so that love,
burning bright and clear, will illuminate my thinking and permit me to better
do His will. Throughout the day, as I allow outside circumstances to dampen
my spirits, I ask God to sear my consciousness with the awareness that I
can start my day over any time I choose, a hundred times, if necessay.

Take Care and God Bless,

They are very much appreciated. : )

I turned the volume down on my Nascar a minute ago
just so I could read ur post deg...and allow ur words of
wisdom to sink in....To feel it deep within my soul.

To comprehend it deeply and use it affectively in my own

already brewing amongst the tellers.

There was a little girl whose brother built a trap to catch a rabbit that he could kill and sell its feet as "good luck". The little girl prayed that night, "O God, please don't let any rabbit get in Joe's trap." Her mother said, "Sweetie, do you believe God can answer that prayer?" She replied, "I don't believe He will, Mommy, I know He will because this afternoon I went in the woods and smashed that trap to pieces."

Where I was raised, this was called "putting feet to your prayers." Some of the things we ask God to do, we should have already done them but haven't because we're lazy or timid. And, there are some things we try to "fix" that should only be left in God's hand. I think that's what Paul meant in Romans 8:26 when he told us to ask the Holy Spirit to help us pray because "we do not know what we should pray for".

Ask the Holy Spirit to help you pray for me as I ask Him to help me pray for you,
