Hi gang, I'm new, but post mostly in the Alcoholic section. Are there any Catholics/Christians that use wine at mass? If so how do you get around that without giving up taking the blood of Christ? Thanks, PR |

Hi, I'm glad you are wanting to partake of the Lord's supper. Our local Catholic church offers grape juice as an alternative as does my own protestant denomination. Welcome to our forum and I hope you will make yourself at home here! |

The consecrated bread is the body and blood of our lord, Jesus Christ. So is the consecrated wine. Therefor, one not need drink the wine to receive the full sacrament. I hope that answers your question

Grape juice and bread still carries the same meaning for me as a sip of wine.

I hear you, best. I did try to note that my experience is not universal. Plus, as has been noted above, Catholicism believes that you get the whole thing, so to speak, even if you just receive the bread, so an alcoholic Catholic is covered either way and probably shouldn't worry about it too much.
