| an Alanon still struggling for her own recovery
I asked God: Will you save my husband? He's drinking himself to death. God said to me: I've handed him my hand, as I've handed it to you. I said: But he's not taking it.... God said: You also refused me many times before, and now you're back. I said: I'm so sorry. I thought you left me. The truth is, I left you. God said: Take my hand. There's a better world. Walk in front of your husband. Show him it can be done. It's what I heard God say to me at the Sunday mass this morning. It's going to be so scary to leave my AH behind... but i'll try, i'll try..... |

I don't see it as leaving the other behind. I see it as respecting the other enough that you let them deal with their own issues. It is their choice to catch up or stay where they are. Only they can make that choice. That is a wonderful post by the way. Thank you.

hi, I can really relate, because I had a dream once about a hand reaching down to me , and I was too scared because I did not know whose it was. I think it was God reaching down to me too. I have also been praying for my alcoholic husband, and my son has some substance issues also. 2 weeks ago we both got the flu, and my husband has not drank since!! 2 weeks sober today, so I am very happy for him. So I will pray for you and your husband also, and I go to Mass also. |

| Can relate...
I too can relate to what many are saying. In my mind, I visualize Jesus standing or even leaning down to me. He is extending his hand and he asks me, "Do you trust me?" My immediate response is instinctively, "Of course". and then He tells me, "then take my hand and trust me... do my job!" I have had to learn, and am still learning, to get out of God's way. Too long I tried to help, tried to make a difference with my AH, tried somehow to make things better. My Higher Power wants me to give my AH to Him, and to let my Higher Power do the rest. It's still a work in progress. God bless... Lori |
