| college student.
well...I am a college student and drinking for the past 5 years has been a way to solve a certain problem i have. Not in college but when I was younger. I now have other ways of controlling that problem yet i have drank for so long that it is part of my life now. I can't do anything on the weekends besides drinking. I sometimes think oh well i'll just have a couple beers. Then after those couple it turns to a rampage to get more booze in my system. I think my body is so use to being completely annialiated that it wants that whenever i drink...or its just in my head... I want to still be able to drink, but not as excessivly. I am young, so I think if I change my ways now, I can still drink and not have a problem. I have been reading the Bible every night and have had a huge past of religion. I am saved and going to heaven by the grace of Jesus. I feel like my life style is headed right for alcoholism. Anyone else have some advice to help me change my ways of heavy drinking and change to one or 2 drinks when going out. |

i just got back from a class. Ive been steadily drinking the whole day. Vodka straight, but keeping within limits. None of my roommates know. Class was great, I actually made an impact on the class. For the better of knowledge. Damn booze rules.

Actually, I do not think that booze rules. I think that it lies. BIG LIES. I do not think that steadily drinking vodka the whole day is within any limits. I am speaking from experience, not judgement. Here are a couple of Bible verses on the subject: Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be fulled with the Spirit. ~ Ephesians 5:18 I know the verse says wine, but the key point is do not get drunk. Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags. ~ Proverbs 23:20-21 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature. ~ Romans 13:13-14 Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin. As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do - living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. ~ 1 Peter 4: 1-3

Bigbird You are at the stage of justifying your every drink. The little voices of alcohol are telling you...I am not that drunk. I functioned ok. I didn't crash the car this time. One more won't hurt... I am already wasted-What is one more? I had an impact on the class today. Wow! One whole day opps...one moment of impact. Imagine how many days of impact you could have if you were sober and studying to the best of your ability? I have been there and done that. When you are ready to deal with the situation...we will be here and Jesus will always be there. When your ready, you will find the answers.

Thank you. As I remember... those I drank with and called friends.... Well when we would go places and I would not drink, they would want the fellowship of another drunk. My being sober seemed to be a reminder to them that drinking wasn't doing us any good. Rather then be reminded...they would sort of push their guilt towards me...have just one. One won't hurt. Thing is for me having just one, I would want another and two became a night full of drinking. Being the DD is a good idea. Not going to the bar at all may be a choice as well. As you sit and look about...sober, you wil see others who are drinking....Yes we do act that way when we get drunk. It can be an eye opener going to the party and staying alcohol free for the night.

Absolutely. It is amazing what you will actually see by going to a bar and not drinking. It truely is an eye opener.
