| Any Salvation Army members here?
I have been to 2 Salvation Army rehabs, 8 years apart, have attended their church services for over 8 years and am shortly enrolling as a Salvo soldier. Would love to hear from anyone else who is involved with them.

A minister at my church was with them for many years. They have a wonderful ministry of outreach. As with any big steps we look to take... Pray about it and let the Lord guide you. If it be God's will, He will see you to become a wonderful soldier. God doesn't call the equipt, He equips the called. The good work He has started in you will be brought to completion.

I am a child of Salvation Army officer parents. I drifted away from the Army in 2003, not because of anything they did but because of everything I was doing. I was laid off from a very good job. My whole life was turned upside down. I feared losing my home, cars, or just anything that I owed money on. I started frequenting the bar everyday. Everything was going south and I didn't care. In August 2006 I literally fell on my face and ended up in the E.R. I honestly believe that if I hadn't fallen I would have lost EVERYTHING--my family, my job, my house...everything. Well, I'm back on track. I have re-committed my life to Christ and things have been great ever since. I feel [i]real[i] enough to wear my uniform again every Sunday--as a message to all that "It is well with my soul." This is why I call myself "ProdigalSoldier" on this board. |

I stayed at several of the Army's shelter's during my active addiction and finally got clean with the help of my SA officers and friends here. I did go through 3 treatment programs[not Christian ones], 1 mental health program, several drug councillors, and several attemps at AA and NA over a period of 30+ years of using. I was lead to Christ by some of the adherents of our church here. I quit using April 2003. I became an adherent Febuary 2004. Had a two day drunk in September 2004. Stayed clean now, very active in our church here, as well as an employee of one of our programs at the church. I too am on the cusp of signing my covenant but am having problems staying stopped smoking. But I have set a quit day and am confident God will help me stop.
