Great News

My husband who is an addict has decided to take his butt back to church again. He has been doing a christian recovery program called Celebrate Recovery but hasn't been getting up on Sundays and going to church.

I feel like if he'd get closer to God, it may be a little easier for him to stay clean.

Just thought I'd share since I'm sooo excited right now.

God does answer our prayers! I am so happy for you and for your husband. Once your spouse starts getting closer to God; you are right .... recovery will be easier. With a closer relationship to Him, he will have "a friend who sticks closer than a brother." (Proverbs 18:24)
Thank You, Lord!!!!

That's awesome!! I've been in the same situation. My husband was the same way. I prayed everyday for him & then I let God do the rest. Now he's 4 yrs. clean. Prayers out to you & your hubby !

Oh,.. That is just wonderful J..

Here was my story. When I started recovery, I started in another fellowship, and I just wasn't at all happy. I continued to relapse. I was searching for God. Then I found Celebrate Recovery,, and I was so happy that I found a recovery program that was Christ centered. So I began to attend, and always went regularly, BUT,, I wasn't attending church, I was too afraid,, to unsure of my recovery, and of myself. To afraid of my demons, and to afraid people would be able to see through me. It took me about ( I think) 8 or so months before I got up enough nerve to go. Oh man, did I wonder why I waited so long!!! It made me feel SO good.!! To tell you the truth, it even made me feel better than the recovery meetings did. I love it all now..

Anyway, that was my experience. I am with FTL on this,, we are to just pray for our spouses, and trust God to take care of the rest. He will, in his time. We are to just show our husbands how we walk with Jesus, and eventually, he will follow..

My husband is still drinking, spends every Friday night at the bar, and gets extremely drunk, every week, some Saturday's too, and doesn't attend church. It's tough. But I know that God will deal with him in his own time, even when it gets really difficult. I do need reminding every once in a while though too.

Prayers my friend,
Love,
Becky

Well, I was excited about this except he relapsed Wednesday. he came home high.......he still went to Celebrate Recovery but I moved out of the house. I can't deal with it anymore. He wants me to go to church with him on Sunday but I'll only go if he is clean.......

and for you as well.

You are setting some nice boundries.

A guy in my classes at school followed his wife to church and because of her faithfulness, he soon found a relationship with the Lord. He tells how one day, he took his supply of coke and just threw it into the desert and never looked back. He has been clean for many years now.
With God, all things are possible.

I am praying for you... and going to believe God will not let him alone, but will make a way where there is no way... to use divine intervention in your lives.
God bless and keep you strong, safe and serene during this time.
hugs

My prayers are with you and your husband. The good news is that your husband knows deep down that God is the answer. I struggled to get sober. i prayed and prayed and yet I still relapsed. Then God answered my prayers -- certainly not the way I wanted --- a 3rd DUI in 10 years -- but I've been sober ever since. 5 months today!!

Thanks guys......sometimes I forget that its not easy for him either. I know that he struggles with making this right in his own life and he has told me this many times. He does know that God is the answer to getting clean.

i just pray that he'll find his way and that it'll be soon.
