| excited about sobriety
new to the forum. but true to the forum. with 5 months of sobriety my primary motivation for staying clean is to reverence God. that's what makes the difference between biblical and secular sobriety. any comments?

Welcome to SR and to our forum here! To honor God is a wonderful goal and a central part of being a person of faith. To know that He honors us is pure grace!!!! I am so happy for your 5 months of sobriety!!! Putting Him first is always the way to go. He will never leave us or forsake us.

It was finding God again that led me to quit my drinking, also. I am so thankful to have had my "spiritual awakening". It was perhaps one of the best days of my life. God is great!!

Colossians 1:17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Be it recovery or daily living, it is good when we put the Lord first in all things.

To answer your original question about the difference between secular and biblical recovery I would say that secular recovery is but a part of the whole- and the biblical, for the Christian would be one that supercedes the secular. God comes first. Secular recovery is just a slice of the pie, but is a good slice!
