Official SR Meeting Protocol - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

We always have many newcomers who are eager to attend SR meetings.

We ask that you please read these rules of conduct: http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...ml#post3117398 (Reminder: Meeting Chairpersons)

as well as stick to the Official Protocol (if there are variations, the Chairperson will let you know):

There will be no "cross talking" permitted during meetings. This means that we ask you to refrain from posting in the main chat room while another member is sharing.
If you need to discuss something with another member, please do so via IM.
If you would like to share during the meeting, please indicate your intention to do so by typing an exclamation point "!".
Please wait until you're called on by the Chairperson.
We ask that you remember that the meeting time is limited, so please be considerate of the time you use during your share.
I you need to enter or leave during the meeting, please do so quietly and unobtrusively.
If you feel strongly about what someone is saying, you may acknowledge them with a one or two word phrase or emoticon. Please no audio-emoticons during meetings.
When someone has finished sharing, you are free to thank them, but please avoid long-winded comments (if you want to discuss a share, contact the person in private).
When sharing, keep your discussion to one or two lines per post so the readers will not have a lot of lag time between posts.
When you have finished sharing, please type the word "Done"
Unless otherwise stated, Chat Monitors attending the meeting are not Chairs; while they will oversee general chat conduct, they attendance is also private, and the Chairperson has ultimate authority over the meeting.

How does the chat work on here for meetings? Is there one for Nar Anon type of support? I am new, so just wondering. I just found this site about 2 weeks ago and it has been a great source of support as I am dealing with my AH who has been addicted for 15 years and now maybe finally following through with my boundaries I have set a gazillion times. Thanks for the help!

Welcome to SR seekinganswrs.... There isn't a meeting at this time for Friends and Family. The Friday meeting is for alcoholics/Drugs Addicts in Recovery.

Please feel free to use the Chat Room. Some members use this forum to gain insight into their spouses, friends ,or families addiction. Support is our goal at SR.
