KID's SCIENCE PROJECT - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

HELP! I know it's unrelated but I do need help with this. My partner's son is eight and needs to make a compound machine for school that can be used for everyday life. I can only think of the really boring things like scissors and difficult ones that I could not help with design!!

Any ideas?

I remeber a project like this when I was young...I set up a pully system that I could use to open my blinds in my bed room from my bed.........I was really lazy even back then....
