In the summertime, when I was a child we sometimes would just have corn on the cob for dinner. Fresh out of the field... sweet and delicious. Dripping with butter and salt and pepper. yum...

Your God child Carlos is doing fantastic!!!! He's still shy and scurries around like a little rat. LOL! He and Julio are like best friends, they even sleep together. I took a cute pic and will post it on the other board!

Mmmmmmm.......let's see what else I can think of.......
Fried ravioli's!!!
Use packaged raviolis (thawed).
Dip into 2 eggs mixed with a little milk.
Then dip into bread crumbs and fry until golden brown.
Put some tomato sauce in a cup or bowl for dipping!
Yum!!!! Makes a great appetizer for parties!!!

Here's another one.......
Sour cream and onion chicken fingers!!!!
Supermarkets here sell those chicken tenderloines, already cut up like chicken fingers!
Crush up a bag of sour cream and onion potato chips.
Dip chicken into eggs mixed up with milk.
Dip into the chips.
Fry or bake as you usually would.
Serve with dip (honey mustard or ranch or whatever dip you like).

Both make great appetizers!!!!

1) Deep Fried Twinkee's (sp)

Dip 'em in Bisquick, and toss 'em in the deep fryer....yum yum yummy!

2) Pancakes and gravy...especially pork gravy....to die for!

3) Peanut butter and (american) cheese sandwiches.

4) Strawberries dipped in sour cream then rolled in brown sugar.....like heaven!

Fruit dip (this one's not unusual, but really good!!!)

Mix a small container of your favorite yogurt with a container of cool whip!
Dip in some fresh strawberries, or pretty much any fruit!!!!

The best part..... you can use any flavor yogurt, fat-free, low-cal, whatever!!!

my daughter made us a treat- she used an egg slicer to cut some medium sized strawberries- poured balsamic dressing and top with crumbled blue cheese...... heavenly!
I hope that Carlos isn't picking up any bad behaviors from Julio!!!!! Please tell C. I said 'meow'

chilli pie

Make chilli anyway you normally make it

Take a *packaged corn bread mix and follow direction on package to make the batter.

In baking dish first pour in chilli covering bottom of dish to at least 2" in depth
then pour corn bread batter on top bake according to temperture recommended on corn bread mix. Serve with a dollup of sour cream and sprinkle favorite cheese on top. If you are making a large dish it make take two boxes of corn bread mix.

* I like "Jiffy" corn muffin mix. Although it does have rather too much sugar in it!! It still taste good...

Frozen Chocolate bananas

Bananas
milk chocolate or semi sweet (depending on preference), chips melted in microwave

Peel bananas, insert a stick in large end, coat with chocolate and place on wax paper covered cookie sheet. Place cookie sheet in the freezer for 30 minutes...........Once frozen, store in ziploc bags in freezer, they last forever!!! Also an awesome snack, tastes like ice cream almost but healthy, GREAT for DT's as the chocolate seems to sooth while the bananas replace some potassium etc.!

Here are 2 that I can think of off hand...
Fruit dip....
1 package of cream cheese (16 oz)
1 regular size jar of marshmellow cream
mix together and dip strawberries ot apples or anything, it is heavenly!

Ham roll ups
Take the precooked rectangle shaped ham slices and dry them off a bit. Take softened cream cheese and spread over generously but not too much. Take a kosher dill pickle spear (the refreigerated are best becasue they are more crisp & easier to work with) and place it at one end and roll up. Cut into 3/4 to 1 in rounds (slices) and chill or serve. It all sounds so gross together but for some reason that combination is out os this world! I am picky and I love it!

Okay I found it..... CHOCOLATE GRAVY
1 1/2 cups sugar...1/4 cup cocoa...1/2 cup flour...1/2 tsp salt ...1/3 cup water...2 cups milk..2 tbl butter ....1 tsp vanilla

combine sugar, cocoa, flour and salt in saucepan...add water to make a paste. Slowly stir in the milk and blend well. Put on high heat and cook, stirring constantly until thick, boil one minute, then remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla stir then serve em over some hot buttered biscuits....

YUMMY YUMMY....Enjoy

A lot of times we have breakfast for supper/dinner. We will scramble some cheese & eggs and cook some bacor or sausage and my husband always makes that old southern favorite, grits, sometimes with cheese too. I think we mad so that sometime this week after all the 4th leftovers are gone!

I've made those meatballs with elk burger, although I use currant jam -- they are great!

Myself, (God, this is gross), I love to dip french fries in a chocolate shake. Also, chocolate-covered potato chips are good.

Hmmmm -- maybe it's that I live in Idaho.

How about this one.

Water Buffalo Surprize

16 oz soft real cream cheese
1 can sweetened crushed pineapple drained
1 tsp garlic salt
2 T chopped onion
1 cup + chopped walnuts

Mix at room temp and serve with crackers.
No subs on the pineapple or the cream cheese. Use the real stuff. The diet stuff is nasty. Trust me.

I forgot these. Also I thought everybody put sugar on their tomatoes. I consider it a condiment. Put it on rice, grits, hominy, etc.too.

Cottage cheese and strawberry jam or any kinda jam or sugar or honey.
Cool whip and pie filling. I usually do lemon or blackberry or cherry.
Potato chips and carmel apple dip.

Wow- this thread has grown since I was away! Everything sounds good!
I like the ham roll ups that Georgia Peach shared-
I had a friend who made those with horseradish mixed into the cream cheese!
Since I try to avoid pork- I may try it in a soft tortilla!
Chocolate gravy!!!that looks good too!
I freeze too-ripe to eat bananas in their skins and then use them for low sugar and fat smoothies: I run some warm water over the skins and peel them- yuk! it is a very slimy thing to do! Then I toss in whatever I want. Once I put some cocoa powder in some plain milk- just enough to mix well- heated it to dissolve the cocoa and added it in the blender with some chopped walnuts. I add milk for desired consistency- and maybe some ice cubes. Oh- I use one small to medium size banana per serving.

My kids like to take tortillas and put cheese & meat & such in them and then put them in the microwave for a few seconds and then eat them. I personally like to put all kinds of cheeses in a tortilla & microwave & dip in sour cream. I also like to dip french fries in mayo or ketchup and mayo mixed. Gross I know but I like it. What else do I like that is strange? I know I like salt on my watermelon as well but I also like it on oranges, apples and lemons. Guess what, I am a southern gal but I DON'T LIKE TURNIP GREENS!!! But I do like hog jowels, it's like bacon but better!

Strange stuff I love to eat

Crumble up Ranch Doritoes in Vanilla Ice Cream and eat that. I dip my french fries in milkshakes.

Those two are really good.

I had some leftover homemade chicken and rice soup and doctored it up with:
Curry couscous
extra curry to taste
diced apple
frozen green peas
This might be good even with the canned chicken noodle or rice. It would be good 'hurricane food' too.
