| my cat
I have an amazing cat who I had to leave abroad and cannot bring to this country. At present she is with a "not so close" family member wo lets her in and out of the house,and feeds. her. she is soft,sweet,gentle and a sweethEart of a cat. Do I give her to someone who loves cats and will take good care of her,or leave her where she is familiar with the surroundings? She is about 7 yrs.old. Hi jojo! I'm sorry she couldn't come with you.  I'm no big cat expert, but I would think that if she's a real "people cat" she'd be happier with someone who really loves her. But I don't know! I'll bet one of the "cat people" who hang out here in the cafe' will be along any time to advise you! Jane |

hey jojo, Yeah, i'm sorry she couldn't come with you too..... I personally think that cats are very adaptable creatures. I think it would be easier for your cat to move and be in a loving home than be with someone who isn't that concerned with giving her the love and attention she needs. This is just my opinion though...Don't know where all the other cat ladies are tonight but as Jane said i'm sure they will pop along to tell you what they think. x

I am no cat expert either but it sounds to me like your cat would be far better off living with someone who will really love her. Cats are very adaptable creatures and I am certain in short time she will be happy in her new surroundings. |

Take her to the love!! She will definitely adapt IMO.......you poor thing......I hate having to give up a pet.especially my cats.......*hugs*

| I had to give up my 4 cats when I lost my home. It still hurts that I am not there to care for them. Nobody could ever love them like I did. I agree with what everyone else says. I might be a bit dumb on most other things but I know about cats and if the other person knows about cats and loves them then they will know how to keep her inside their home until she gets used to it and not feed her before she lets her out for the first time. If she's hungry she's less likely to wander too far while she's getting used to the area. Plus she has to think of how to stop her from trying to make her way home to the previous home (which could be a dangerous journey for her and she could get lost). Lots of love and attention and good food and (initially) confining her to the home and then fasting her for a short time before letting her out for the very first time will all help. I'll have a look through my books today and if I find out anything else that will help or more advice and information on these situations then I'll be back this evening to let you know what I find out. I'm so sorry you had to leave your cat behind I really feel for you. Molly XXX

if the cat is not happy it will go and find a place where it will be happy!!!!..we dont own cats...they own us!!!.....clever creatures with independent minds...she will be justfine!!!! now stop fretting...cats are so clever!!! |

Your cat currently has a safe home and someone to feed her....? What more do you think moving the cat will provide......cats are independent and will survive just fine whether we "love" them or not. If the cat is happy where she is leave her there.
