You know every forest has goblins and leprachauns and faeries and pixies and elves...though one must be in the right frame of mind to see -or otherwise perceive- of them. Like ghosts, and truth, you have to want to see them, if they're going to have any chance of being revealed to you. God those are beautiful woods, spectacular lands where you live. Your "forest floor" picture reminds me of my home land. Where I live, in body and spirit and mind. Amazing things spring up from the forest floor, I have to ignore. But mostly I stand in awe of it all. |

If I ever manage to get off this mushroom addiction perhaps I'll have brain space available to pursue work in writing. The mushrooms keep sprouting up and clogging my head in a grandly distracting, distorting, disorienting way. I'm stuck in "Newcomers" and still contemplating the "in recovery" portion, but thinking hard on the possibilities. Before it all rots away. Grandly distracting myself here today. Grateful for SR. Much appreciative of you and all the good REAL people here.

Good example of how distorted my thinking is. I thought everyone knew about mushrooms. Psilocybe mushrooms. They're psychedelics, with effects similar to LSD if you take enough, and I do take enough. I'd decided I was through with the chemicals, and going "organic" would be a happy compromise. Until the next opportunity to use chemicals in Phenethylamines (2-Ci) came along, and I was only too willing to start in on that. Until the overdose...ODing on hallucinogens is not good, so I went back to the mushrooms. Which is the same thing, only different. Same problem. Yeah, some clarity in my thinking is needed. My eyes are open, as I think is also my mind...will see...

Yes I was aware of the Psilocybe mushrooms...I have done plenty of them in my time too...I can identify them and tell you were they grow....however I had no idea that they were addictive?!!!! The last time I had mushrooms was on new years eve back int he 80's somewhen...(cannot remember the year!)...I could see doors breathing and the pavements were like snakes moving underfoot.....needless to say , that did not float my boat anymore......so I left them alone...... I was just not sure what you meant....thanks for clearing that up...... i still beliee in fairies and pixies and goblins tho!!!....

But we have snakes and possums and bears. Doesn't that count for something? ![]() P.S. And I am sure that Johnny is in every store here, but we ARE NOT going to Wal Mart!

After having spent the day in the swamp (where water bugs and ticks are emerging...very real!) and in the trees, I wanted to send to you a thank you for the perspective note here, before returning this thread back to it's beautifully treed roots. I carried with me today your response and contemplated it intently. This is not a drug addiction I have in mushrooms, it's a drug obsession! Though mushrooms do not have characteristically addictive properties, after 19 years of progressively obsessive use it's grown to some beast of almighty proportions. I cannot describe. And won't try. Because after another day of immersion into the obsession I think it wise to drag this exhausted tripped out brain back to Newcomers, to see if I can't make some progress toward 'to recovery'. I see so many beautiful drug-free people here and hope to be part of the community when I'm of a state of mind to join you here. Clarity...
