| Pick a title!
Most of you know that my A, Mike, is in prison. He's been using poetry to 'journal' his thoughts and feelings while he's been in there, and sends some of them to me. He's not sure what to call this one...so, I thought I'd ask some suggestions. It's one o'clock in the morning and I'm thinking of dope; I do it quite often when I've given up hope. I can't seem to break free of this emotional penance, The addict didn't die when they gave me this sentence. Got to get my mind right, tomorrow's another day, I'm trying to live for the moment. There's no other way. There's not much to look forward to, surrounded by thugs, I'm trying to live right, but I find myself craving drugs. I know I can't give in to this temporary solution, Because it's the reason I'm locked up in this ******* institution. Tomorrow night there's a meeting and you know I'll be there. Got to work up some courage, I just need to share. I'm told if I'm willing, and I do this just right, In no time at all, I'll be sleeping all night. It will be a long journey, but it starts with 12 steps. I'll be in uncharted waters and exploring new depths. But that's okay with me, because I know what they say" Don't get high, go to meetings, and live 'just for today.' |

ooooooooooooohh...Ann, I like that. I bet he will too... Margo - he has a couple of others floating around on Nar-anon...but when he needed a title because he couldn't figure it out (the suggestions are his, but he's open to ideas) I thought that Cafe would get a broader group of suggestions. |

psst - Moosie - I didn't give Mike a chance to choose. I made all his poems into a little 'book' - and that one needed a name! (It had nothing to do with control issues...that's my story, and I'm sticking to it!)

He goes from dispair to hope in this poem, its progressive! Awesome and he should be selling his poems to singing artists who will pay good $!! I think the name should be "If I'm Willing"

I like that one, beginning2see. It's all about willingness and Mike sure seems to have a good grip on that. Hugs,

I would have voted for "Just for Today", but that one's been used already... I liked the line he used "a long journey". For most of us that is just what it is and it could sum it up pretty well. But there has been some great suggestions made...

He's going to love hearing all this - I'll probably print out this thread and mail it to him once it stops getting replies. I know he misses coming to SR...misses the people here, and the input on everything from all of you.

These are great - he's not going to believe the input he's gotten on this! I suppose I might have to fix the little printout of this that I sent him...with all these great suggestions for titles, I'll bet he's going to choose something different! I'm going to see him today...maybe I can fit the 13 or so suggestions on my hand!
