Okay so I'm thinking that not too many people use internet relay chat, but if you're like me and have used it - it's hard going back to html-based chat programs like the one on here at SR. For me at least, I keep some kind of client online 24/7 whether it be through the web, irc, or downloading from ftp. So the benefits of using irc are much grater because you can just idle in a room until someone starts talking. Do any of you all use IRC? If so we need to meet up and get an SR going on EFNet or something... If you are an internet junky (using Windows) who has stumbled upon this thread, please give yourself a break and read this: www.mirc.com. |

Ease of use. No technical skills needed. HTML and Java based programs work for everyone no matter the skill level. IRC is great but requires some input from the user to get started.

mIRC is fun once in a great while for me. I used to play an online adventure game that uses an IRC channel for player chat (within the game). Family togetherness = Clans & Tribes & Guilds. ONLINE Weddings!! OMG! I was emcee and justice of the peace for nearly 100 online weddings when I played. LOLOLOL. |

Internet Relay Chat -- mIRC. What language are we speaking? Geek-Nerdish. Why? Do we need to translate something? Here's a pic from one of the many double weddings I hosted. Fun, Fun, FUN stuff! ![]() This one was quite a ceremony of international flair. Players from around the world attended. Brazil, Belgium, France, Germany, USA, & Japan were in this screenshot. |

I don't even use mIRC, it's been a while since I've run any windows system but thought that some people might identify better with it. best - that's a good point, but I still don't like your cold.. calculated logic. |
