Ok, all of you younger Cafe folks. Can anyone tell me what mosh means. I know it has to do with or is some kind of music. But can you explain? And exactly what is a Mosh Pit?

My kids tell me it is "slam dancing"... mostly guys... mostly violent. Son does it ... but he is 6 foot 7... he usually comes out ok... a few black eyes, sometimes.

LoL. "Caught in the mosh". A mosh pit isn't for the feint-hearted, mild-mannered folks. It can get pretty nasty. In the eighties, slam dancing was really popular. Now, it's an all out "brawl ballet" :andy:

The mosh pits I have witnessed, one of them being at the NME gig I went to last week, have been pretty tame, yeah people just run into eachother and jump around lol. Short people shouldn't venture in though, from my experience they are the ones who fall over. I don't know if they are less violent in the uk but I wouldn't say you have anything to be alarmed about.

Well great, my daughter is a MOSHER then I guess, for she got in the pit. She told me that she was sore. Don't ge me wrong. I knew she was going see these bands at these places. And I had it checked out. It was a totally 18 and under thing with no drinking. Just can't see her in the pit. But she did it and she told me about. So............
