| Anyone else feeling squeeeeeeeezed?? Is anyone else out there feeling squeezed financially lately? I'm telling you...I make a decent income, get decent annual raises, not complaining, but this year more than ever it seems that everything is rising up around me! Utilities (heat bill tripled), health insurance, auto insurance, gas, everything you need and have little contoll of. I have cut out all the frivilous stuff (wasn't much anyway) So I just filed my taxes and I lost the child credit on the last chance kid...my youngest. He turned 17 in December. 1 lousy month cost me a grand. What would ever make the government think that a 17 year old is cheaper than, say, a 10 year old anyway? I am a single parent, and a classic example of the stomping of the middle class. Oh and Exxon reported record breaking profits for both the quarter and the year! Does anyone else feel this way? AAAAAUUUUGGGHHHH ok, I feel better... Cece

I am blessed. I know this, and I try to remember it daily. It just gets so frustrating drudging forward only to be pushed backward. But...in the grand scheme of things, I am blessed. Cece

I WAS HOPING THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD PASS OFF THE PROFIT TO THE CONSUMERS. I was wrong the price of gas went up 21 cents where I live today. The Iran sanctions go thru and oil is projected to hit $100.00 a barrel. I live a couple of miles from work. I feel for anyone making a long commute

I'll hop on this one. My gas bill for last month was over $500.00 and we never turn the thermostat up past 65. Electric bill over 200.00. Health ins. for a family of 5 $800.00. I can't afford to put all of them on it. My ex-husband lost his job with the union so now my 2 middle kids no longer have ins. My daughter needs a physical to start a job this week, and my son has chicken pox and needs a doctors note to go back to school. the office visit will cost $197.00 for each of them. Hubby hasn't worked in 3 weeks, so we've lost that income for now. Not sure when he will have a check coming in again. and ex-husband goes to jail this weekend (just when he said he would start paying child support again) Murphy's Law! And of course, we don't have enough to pay our monthly expenses (that's just the necessities, no frills) yet, we bring in too much to get any public assistance. You gotta love America. You need to be filthy rich to get tax breaks, or illegal aliens to recieve assistance. The hard working middle class guy who is trying to do the right thing gets screwed. WOW, That felt good!!!

Might be the worst part about the welfare system. Seems the system isn't designed to get you off of it. The system is designed to suck you into it and keep you on it

Oh CeCe...yes....you know me. I think of the positives each and every day. I love to focus on my blessings and I do. I am very, very grateful for what I have. Still, my heart aches for that mom or dad that are doing everything right, and are wondering how they are going to feed their children. Or, get them the medical care that they need, be it a prescription, dental care or a physical. And I would be hard pressed to tell that mom or dad to focus on the good. HOW I mean that, is I may be more inclined to try to offer referrals for help, or a simple "I understand" There is NO reason for where this country is at. (well there is, but I choose not to go there) I will pray that things get better for everyone. Not everyone is going to sit down with family tonight and eat. And again, that saddens me. I will pray more. I hear you Cece..I really do. Yes, we have many blessings...but we have alot of problems in this country that are being ignored. You have my blessings... Hopefloats |
