My boy ROCKS!!

Hey,
I haven't posted here in a while, I have been reading once in a while. I just had to share this.

My son is on the school wrestling team. So far, they are undefeated. Because of scheduling, I haven't been able to get to any of his meets until tonite.

Man, my son ROCKS!!

These boys were incredible. They dominated the other team. It was so exciting to watch. I of course was on the side lines screaming and cheering like a lunatic. He walked off of the mat with this half-smile/half-laugh as he looked over at me. He was probably thinking "Oh my God she's embarrasing."

It was just incredible. I'm just happy to have something good to talk about for a change.

That's what happens with kids...they make us proud. You've done a great job as a mom, and it's showing, not just with wrestling, but in his life as a whole, isn't it? Go ahead, pat yourself on the back - I can't quite reach!

My younger son tried wrestling for a year and he was the smallest one there but he kept it up anyhow...I was more proud of him for the committment than i was for his ability
They may joke around about us carrying on at their events but they will remember forever us making it to them.
I am so glad you had one of those priceless "Mom" moments....they make up for everything, don't they?

But, if we do it right, all we need is that one time. Then, if you get blessed, you get grandkids to make up for your past mistakes.

You son may think he appreciates it now, but give him 5-10 years, and he REALLY will appreciate it. Having my parents be a part of my sports career through college was really a cornerstone in my development. I think sports is an incredibly important aspect in any child's life. (Just as important as other pro-social activities such as theater, band, etc) It teachs so many valuable skills and life lessons. I realize now that it was as much about my dedication, as it was my parents.

I remember all of the games in the rain, sleet, snow, sweltering heat, road trips, etc. I remember walking off of the field of my last collegiate game and they were there, and it was really a defining moment in my life...not because of winning, but because it was as much about me as it was about sharing it with them.

Be a proud mom, because you earned it. Your son may make funny faces now, but when he looks back on it he'll remember you being there just as much as the actual event.

The great thing about sports was not only the play on the field/mat/track/etc, it was the drives back and forth, early in the morning, late at night, etc. It was a time to share my experiences with my parents, and have them share their experiences with me. It was as much about sports, as it was about life.

This is one of the miracles of recovery for me. We're told that it is "beyond our wildest dreams". When I was a kid I always wanted to be a Mommy when I grew up. Now I am. Not just a "biological mother", but a MOMMY.

There is a wrestling club in our area. The coach asked J. if he would join, but we couldn't afford it. On Tues at the match, the coach approached us, and said he really wants him on the club, and if we couldn't afford it, don't worry about it. He can still join.

My son is BIG. He's tall, stocky (all muscle), and strong. He is right on the edge off 2 weight classes, so the coaches can shift him where he's needed most. And, watching him on Tues. He's good. Not just because I'm his mom, he's really good.

the other thing I am proud of. He is also in scouts. He wanted to do some type of athletics at school, and he researched the time of practices and matches so he could pick something that wouldn't interfere with scouts. This past week, he went up in rank to 1st class. He's just having an incredibly good week.
