Who wrote this song, anyway??

Besides the several poems floating around in my head, there's also a song or two.

I thought to post a couple lines of lyrics to see if anyone else recognizes it, or maybe it's all just in my head? Come On & Sing Along!

Suddenly it crossed my heart, I want you to be my Baby...
Suddenly it crossed my heart, I want you to be my Lady...
Ooh ooh yeah ooh yeah...

Song Style: Upbeat Jazz/Swing
Sounds Like: Billy Ocean / Simply Red / Seal

Any ideas? Is it a song from a movie, or an album? I've searched a dozen different lyric search engines, but nothing matches it.

I think it is this one by Terence Trent D'Arby from the 80's???

Sign Your Name

Fortunately you have got
Someone who relies on you
We started out as friends
But the thought of you just caves me in
The symptoms are so deep
It is so much too late to turn away
We started out as friends

Sign your name
Across my heart
I want you to be my baby
Sign your name
Across my heart
I want you to be my lady

Time i'm sure will bring
Disappointments in so many things
It seems to be the way
When your gambling cards on love you play
I'd rather be in hell with you baby
Than in cool heaven
It seems to be the way

Sign your name
Across my heart
I want you to be my baby
Sign your name
Across my heart
I want you to be my lady

Birds never look into the sun
Before the day is gone
But oh the light shines brighter
On a peaceful day
Stranger blue leave us alone
We don't want to deal with you
We'll shed our stains showering
In the room that makes the rain

All alone with you
Makes the butterflies in me arise
Slowly we make love
And the earth rotates
To our dictates
Slowly we make love

Sign your name
Across my heart
I want you to be my baby
Sign your name
Across my heart
I want you to be my lady

OMG and I've been singing the wrong words to it this whole time!!! Thanks!

Doh!! And now it shows up in the ''Most Mis-heard Lyrics'' listing. ''Suddenly'' is still a nice song by Billy Ocean, and the same title by Olivia Newton John. WoW. I'm regressing in a BIG way.

Nah, you're not regressing, I just happen to be 80's Girl... I LOVE that era of music so there isn't too much I don't recognize.

Soooo...does this waxing nostalgic have anything to do with those "interesting developments" you have yet to share with us from your other thread?

When I look up lyrics, I go to www.google.com and type in the line that I know and then puts "Lyrics" after it, and it will search through the various lyrics websites.

I went to see Terence Trent-Darby around the mid-80s. Not really my kind of thing but friends were going and you know how it is with that. But i was truly smitten the little guy was sexy as hell.
