I went to a meeting today, first one I had been to for two weeks, since my work contract expired and was not renewed. It was a great meeting and after I spent time talking to one of the members I like and admire, I felt much lighter after and had some practical things to do, like; Get to more meetings. Read one chapter of the BB every day check Insurance to see If I cant take a couple of months of work and get to meetings ... We exchanged No's which is great, I dont feel so full of anger and fear now. So I am wondering if I will take a break if I can and focus on my recovery. I am also trainied in Reiki, so maybe I could start a Reiki practice as I love doing it and am apparently good at it. I would not give up programming as I love it but why not add another string to my bow. Anyway This is a bit of a ramble, but if you can decipher it, what do you think? Maybe time for a change! Kevin

That is exactly what I am doing - taking a couple of months off to work on me. (That's the cool thing about being a contractor, hey.) Check it out and see. Sounds like a fabulous idea. Immerse youself in recovery, spend time with the dogs, practice Reiki. Life is about choices and taking time when we can, IMO.

lol Dan and thanks Here is a brief but fairly accurate description; Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a system of Enlightenment and a Hands on Healing art developed in the early 1900's by Mikao Usui in Japan. It is an art that is passed from Master to student. The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words - Rei and Ki, meaning Universal Life Force Energy. The term "Reiki" is used to describe both the energy and the Usui system of using it. The original system by Usui was called Usui Reiki Ryoho. There are many variant's of Reiki being practiced these days. ... www.reikithehealingpath.com/reiki_glossary.htm

Kevin, I think this is really good stuff. Perhaps your HP is busy at work these days? I love the Reiki idea....doing what you enjoy and truly believe in and getting paid for it? Sounds like a win win to me. I've been going through a lot of that "slow down and take more time for me" thing myself these days. I'm starting to see a lot that has been neglected in my driving and striving and constantly being on the go. There is a whole world out there to explore and experience, if you can combine some of that with a paid career, so much the better! I say go for it!!! |
