First, the idea behind the countdown...

In the meantime, while we wrestle with the database code over there, we thought it would be fun to have a short story contest over here.

Subject: Anything your imagination can come up with about how a gathering of SoberRecovery members might be.

Jon has had a dream of having a get together in the desert ever since he opened up the doors of SoberRecovery.

Short Story entry:

There I was amoungst everyone, with it all hanging out. Completley naked, staggering around, making people scream. I said: no, no I am a naturalist! And shortly after that the police arrived. Clubbing me to the ground.

I stood naked in the police cell before they covered me up. Then they beat me, they beat me round the head. I could barely walk. My knees where chapped and my teeth were falling out.

I threw up everywhere: it was in my hair. I began to smell. During my time in prison, I read The Origin of the Species and it made me feel suicidal. I long for afternoons spent in ciggerette smoke and SR.

The nights are long here. I went to SR at Spring Palms naked, and I have been in jail since.

not funny.

But we promised, and we delivered.
And we kept it simple.
No choices to make. Just a text field where you can say what you want to say. Just like posting here.
