I went and stood in front of the stage for Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan this summer.Willie was great Dylan's voice was shot. back in 74, I had 4th row seats for James Taylor at a nice theater. As luck would have it, Carly came on stage with him Seems my sober concerts have aways been better then my dunken stoned ones

First concert: Jimi Hendrix and the Monkees (what a combo) Worst Concert : Doobie Brothers (back in the day -they really sucked at live concerts, must have been too stoned) Best Recent Concert: Gretchen Wilson (That redneck woman can sing!) MamaGoose

Best - Sting at the Gorge at George, Washington, outdoors at twilight. Absolute magic. Worst: Procol Harum - they sucked and the lead singer split his pants right up the backside halfway through - didn't bother with a change of clothes either.

Hi Captain, I think the Monkees were trying to do Jimi a favor and have him open for them. This was Forest Hills, NY. Shortly after that he died. I can't remember what year. MamaGoose

1st concert- Paul Davis (65 Love Affair, Cool Night) Best Concert- Garth Brooks (not a country fan, but WOW, what a performer, he left every ounce of himself onstage!!) Wosrt Concert (My Fault) Dave Mathews Band (Drank a liter of "Jungle Juice" 1/2 kool aid 1/2 Everclear and topped it off with a joint. Made it through about 20 minutes and went back and passed out on the bus I rode up in!!) Worst Concert Performance- Ramaones/Blondie around 1992 (There were 4 of us who went together and we all came up with different counts of how many songs the Ramones played, anywhere between 26 and 32, in their 45 minute set!!! 1-2-3-4!!!! Blondie looked like a blonde sausage stuffed into a black spandex bodysuit and was so out of it she couldn't even remember half of the lyrics.)

Yeah I hear ya, remembering them just makes them alot better My worst concert was Deep Purple.... Drank a 1/5 of Yukon Jack, woke up in the hospital with blood alcohol poisoning, couldnt eat or drink anything for a week. There is two! Van Halen Diver Down tour, got so stoned I couldnt keep my eyes open, I was at the last row of seats (remember clockwork orange with the eyelid thingy, I needed that badly) aweful. Best concert. Greatful dead (with jerry) at the Greek theatre Berkeley, CA. 2 hits acid at the door, awesome experience....Painfully honest but I would not even think of that today.

Best concert: Joe Satriani 1992 Worst concert: Joe Satriani 2004 Not only did his songs get worse, it was comically weird that the same people at the first one were at the second one. Tragically, a lot of metal heads do not age gracefully ![]() Some wore the same clothes... not the same style clothes, the SAME CLOTHES. LOL

Hmmm. I've never been a big concert-goer... but - worst concert - David Lee Roth solo. I only went because my highschool boyfriend wanted to go. David used a bottle of whiskey like it was a penis and sprayed it all over the crowd, then a woman in the audience near us took off her shirt and bra... and that was it for me. I didn't drink at the time (if only I'd stayed that way!) and was *mortified* about the nude woman... and I walked out. I was working on walking home (which was about 20 miles away) when my boyfriend finally pulled up beside me in his car and took me home. Icky experience all around, especially for a very naive 16 year old. best concert - probably a tie between the Chili Peppers a few years back and the Breeders in the mid 90's. My friend and I went to a bar afterward & ended up spending much of the evening with the band who showed up at the same bar... Kelley Deal (the lead guitarist) drunkenly hit on me and tried to convince me to go back to her room with her. I didn't... and then I left to go overseas for a few years the next day. All in all, a memorable evening!

My best friend and I went to see Alice Cooper last year. My REAL dream concert would be Billy Idol. After my mother's hysterectomy and her doctor FINALLY letting her sit in a vehicle for any period of time, I took her to Neil Diamond in Oakland, and that was GREAT. We had third row seats because I'd gotten the tickets from a member of the board of that coluseum. Back to Alice. We decided ahead of time we'd go completely sober, and have a good beer afterward while waiting for our ride home. And it was fabulous. I could have gone into a coma if I'd sucked off all the beer spilled on me during the concert but I couldn't help but think how awful to miss such an awesome experience by being wasted. It was a big eye opener on my way to sobriety. I'd give anything to have a tape of the drum "solo" during intermission. The guitarist and bassist both picked up drumsticks and three of them pounded on that drum set for quite some time. I had to go pee so bad and couldn't bring myself to leave and miss it. I haven't had a bad concert experience unless you count Eddie Money... but that was in high school and concerts weren't the same then. Kelly |

Best concert is coming up on Dec. 1. The Rolling Stones in Houston. Best: 1975, 1978, 1981, 1989, 1994, 1997, 1998, 2003 The Rolling Stones. Worst really was a great concert it's just that I passed out and missed 1/2 of his show. It was Rod Stewart and I was sitting in the front row. See what drugs and drinking do to you. I missed a great show. Another worst was in 1971(I think it was 71) seeing Dr Hook at the state fair. They were so loaded they couldn't even sing much less play. |

I couldn't pick the best one ever, but some good brilliant ones have been: Smokey Robinson 1992 Edinburgh (I got to meet him afterwards and he kissed me on the cheek!) Carl Perkins 1992 Ayr - a holiday camp where I was so close I could touch him (I kissed HIS cheek) Tom Waites 1991 (?) - Edinburgh kd lang (198 something) - Glasgow when she was still country and fun James Brown 2005 - Glasgow The Proclaimers 1994 - Stirling - wow! they are so funky live! Worst ones Tom Jones (199something) Glasgow Royal Concert Hall - too quiet and you had to sit down A band called King Kurt in the early 80s, they really were rubbish! Sprayed the audience with beer, burst your eardrums and cut people's hair really badly on stage. I just wanted to go home lol. kd lang 2000 Glasgow - sheer, unadulterated piffle. David Bowie 1982 Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh - miles away and my brother had talked me into trying hash. I can hardly remember the concert, but I can remember the fish and chips. Ha! Jane xxx |

This thread brings back momories, Best concert hmmmmmm probably U2, I remember that one because I almost didnt make it. I live in Oklahoma and had a party the night before, I missed my plane to Texas for the show, barely made it in time. Worse had to be Ozzie, he was so wasted you couldnt understand the lyrics or recognize any of the songs, ended up waking out of the concert.

Where do I start. Smokey Robinson.....front row center seat. My boyfriend at the time was getting pissed because it looked like Smokey was singing right to me and then at the end of the show when he came out to a standing ovation he motioned me to come up to the stage and he gave me a kiss on the cheek. What a cutey!!!! Then there's Paul McCartney and Wings, Tom Jones about 8 times, James Taylor, Johnny Mathis, Frank Sinatra and some I'm probably forgetting right now. Today there's only one performer for me. Michael McDonald who I adore. I've met and talked to him after shows several times. He is the nicest person to meet. I had a picture taken with him which is in my profile. Looking forward to a show coming up in January and I was lucky enough to get front row seats. Of course it doesn't hurt to belong to the fan club.

Best concert: That's a tough one. I think I have fun at just about any concert. The Who (several times), Aerosmith, The Pretenders, Yes, Eric Clapton, AC/DC, Brian Setzer, The Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Marshall Tucker Band, 38 Special, Grateful Dead, Rod Stewart. and a few I can't remember. Worst: Taking my 13 year old daughter to her first concert. N'Sync. Thousand of screaming little girls. The Wall Flowers-same concert as kenny wayne sheppard. They got Boo'd big time, then the arena emptied out.

Best: James Taylor & The Baltimore Symphony (1999). AMAZING show. I scored 4 tickets maybe 15 rows back. The BSO building is awesome. Drinks and food beforehand, then 3 hours of amazing music. JT's wife came from the BSO and he was telling stories about how he'd come down to b'more, etc. Worst: L7 (1995/1996?) They were opening for another band....which I think was The Offspring. The L7 lead singer was bad, she was yelling at fans, the fans stunk, etc. -p
