He took some of them using a home made lense to increase the magnification on his very basic camera!! It's a hand lense made to fit inside an old fashioned film tub which he cut the end off and wrapped foam round the inside so that it fits over his camera lense. He's still getting the hang of using it!!

Not bad as he's only owned a camera for just over a year!!

Oh, I agree... it is fun to look for wild ones. So many surprising shapes and colors and textures!

My photos are essentially of wild fungi, too - they're soil isolates - Penicillium species, to be exact-ish.

I <3 mushrooms. Eventually I will perfect a Miso soup. I had an AWESOME 5 mushroom Miso soup when I went to visit my folks. Fungi.....something to strive for!!

Heya, Equus - I don't know what the purple one is, but I'll look at my field guides & see if I can find it... I have a few ideas, but I'm not sure. I study plant pathogens, so my scope is a little limited. They really are beautiful, though, eh?
