My cousin is the proud grand mother of Jason Robert B. He was born at 10:26 Sunday morning, weighing in at 8'8" and 20 1/2 inches long. Later in the afternoon he developed some breathing problems. The hospital did chest x-rays and blood work and found that his right lung was filled with fluid. They think that he must have inhaled amnionic fluid as he was being born. He is now in the neo natal intensive care unit. He is in an oxygen tent and being fed intravenously and they are treating it as if he had pneumonia. Her son and daughter in law are besides themselves with fear. They said it is a horrible position to not be able to do anything but watch and wait. But they said once he was put under the oxygen he totally relaxed and went to sleep and that his color improved immediately. I would appreciate your prayers for baby Jason. Shalom!

Thanks to your loving prayers, hour by hour Jason is improving. He is not out of the woods yet, but is making steady progress. The latest x-ray shows a 50% reduction of fluid in his lungs and the lab culture taken doesn't seem to be pneumonia. His white blood cell count is still high so there is some sort of infection. His breathing has slowed and deepened from the rapid shallow breaths of yesterday. Jason's color is now newborn pink. My cousin went up to see him yesterday. There was no way "Grandma" was going to be kept away. LOL! She was allowed to be in the intensive care room. She said it was a bit disturbing to see him under the oxygen tent, intravenous lines, heart monitors and lines to monitor his oxygen levels. She said she spoke to him softly and he opened his eyes - like he knows who she was. They are allowed to touch him but not caress him as the docs say that would stimulate him too much at this point. That was very difficult for my cousin. I can only imagine... The mom has been released from the hospital, they needed her room. So they will travel back and forth to visit with Jason. He has to stay in the hospital for at least 7-10 days. They have her pumping her breasts so that when he is able to take liquids it will be hers. So it is really looking very good at this point. My cousin sends her gratitude for all the support given for baby Jason... And I am grateful for your prayers too... Shalom!
