oh Merlin what did you do????? My cat is beautiful, he really is. He is an exotic jungle cat. Not really. He really is a common orange tabby cat but that description simply does not do him justice. He started out as a cute little helpless kitten with an eye abscess that came to my house supposedly for four days, over Thanksgiving break so he did not have to stay at the vet. He fully recovered despite harsh odds that he would be blind in one eye. That was I think 3 years ago. Well, like all things cute and little he grew up and he grew into an independent creature which I suppose is the nature of cats, unless you own a Siamese, they're different. My son has another name for him, Stone Cold, as in Stone Cold Killer. There are large woods behind my house and almost nightly he brings something home and lays it on the doorstep. Don't leave your boots on the steps, he'll put a mouse inside for you. I know, because he's done it twice to my husband. I told my husband it's not the cat, that the mouse crawled inside and died of 'stink foot". We both know, the cat did it. I cannot number the amount of things Merlin has.....ahh......hunted and caught. Yesterday, I was out in the yard with my deaf puppy (that's another story) and I saw Merlin my jungle cat limping. With all the things he's hunted he's never come home with even a single scratch. There were some nasty cat fights when he first started going out, but the cats all seem to have established their territories and now its been fairly peaceful for about a year. Anyway, I digress, I saw Merlin limping. I picked him up and took him into the house. I could not find anything seriously wrong with him and so I gave him food, water and put him in one of the back bedrooms where there is a hope chest on top of which I've placed one of those small lambs wool pet mats. It looks out the window. When he is inside this is where he sleeps, and sleep he did, for almost 24 hours, waking only to eat, drink and go back to sleep. I've never seen this cat of mine in the house so long or so totally exhausted. He's much better tonight. I wonder what he messed it up with that so exhausted him. My husband then tells me, "Up and down the street signs are posted, a cat is missing". Gulp A cat is missing???????? My first thought was "Oh Merlin what did you do???" I'm so codie, I honestly am, because it did not take me long to think..What if..... what if....what if.... there is somethinggggggg big bad and evil out there hunting cats??????? Don't ask me to define what that might be, I don't have to define it, as I just said I'm a codie You know it's quite possible that the two things (Merlins coming home as he did and a missing cat in the neighborhood) have nothing to do with each other, but then again, they might. sigh

Oh my, Sigh, you and I have known from day 1 that we are twins separated at birth, both with sons of the same name, and now you tell me you have an orange tabby...just like my Toby. I've never known a cat to kill a cat in a fight, so I'm guessing that there is "something" out there. I worry about that here too, but the only animal that ever did Toby any harm was a skunk. Merlin sounds like he can take care of himself, but don't clip his nails because he may have to head up a tree in a hurry. Hugs Ann
