| I posted this article on another discussion board that has a very board readership and is unrelated to addiction. Someone started a thread and asked, "what is your issue with government and the world?" I would really like to hear ya'lls good feed back on this. This is my reply: To me the whole world is sick and this sickness reminds me a lot of the cycle addiction. Finally, recognized in medical circles as a disease. This is one of the deadliest diseases on the planet. Addiction is a disease that if not arrested it kills and destroys everything in it's path. Alcohol and drugs are not the only drugs of choice(DOC) an addict might choose To me this relationship between the government and the people of the world looks just like the dynamics of the addict/co-addict relationship . Denial is not a river in Egypt ya'll all know that. But, addiction needs elements of obsession and denial in order to survive and thrive. The heads of states are the addicts and have their fine meetings with all the finest foods, liquors and attendance getting high on the "rush" of choosing which population they might need to take down in order to gain control of whatever natural resource that they deem important a few million people may be in the balance but it is not near as import as what they gain control of. While we the people who are consuming these natural resources are the "co-addict" and we look to the government as our source of comfort and protection. We get out of sorts with the heads of states and start crying out and writing letters begging them to hear us and do what we think we need them to do for us and sometimes they comply with certain things to pacify the masses and to get their hooks in deeper. So that we will leave them to their "high" . The government will even accuse us of forcing their hand to gain more power over our lives which is typical addict behavior. Being that addicts are master manipulators and obsessed with getting their (DOC) which for the heads of states is the power and control they have over the world; while we the co-addict become obsessed with our dependence on our addicts. The co-addict gets very unhealthy looking to the addict for support and we do outrageous things in order to appease our addict such as sending our off spring to to kill other peoples off spring and actually believe that it is good for us to bring all this destruction and sadness into our lives. We pray for peace yet go to war our actions speak louder than our words and so do our addicts actions and words. We the co-addicts have no boundaries when it comes to dealing with our addicts we let them in to every aspect of our lives and they control us. What an addict knows is there is no limit too great to keep them from getting high and they do not care if they abandon their children and personal relationships, or rob. Actually they don't even notice who they step on to get what they want. Is this beginning to sound like our government yet to you? Do you believe them when they say they don't want to go to war? Often times what sets the addict/co-addict relationship on a path of healing is when the co-addict decides that they will no longer be controlled and manipulated by the out of control obsessed addict and they start taking care of themselves. The addict is then left holding the bag so to say and are then forced to make the choice of following their obsession to destruction or they could see the selfishness of their actions and decide they are apart of the human race. But, I seriously doubt that our addicts are going to admit their lust for power and control to those that are under their thumbs. As long as we allow a government making laws that serve its obsession for power and control to control us we will stay pretty jammed up. We value the control and we bow down to it. The people who are in control now are the descendants of the ones who have always been in control their money and wealth are handed down thru the generations. As long as we value money and things above human life and dignity dictatorships, social injustice, wars, and famine, will continue to exist. This is the elephant in the living room that nobody wants to talk about and fix...I guess everybody just don't see it yet. Even though I do not wish to be controlled by the government it would be foolish for me to deny that it does control me. |
