Gas prices in our area are still some of the best in the nation (sorry guys) we are usually paying an average of $3.44 - $3.52 a gallon - Isn't that crazy that I'm saying that is the BEST in the nation??????????

it is making me a little resentful to have to drive for work - $0.44 cents per mile - doesn't even come close to covering gas and wear & tear on my vehicle - all other R E ofcs have a state vehicle - but not our ofc - even when there were 5 agents we didn't have one - so you know their not going to give us a car with only ME here - but 200 miles last wk, really put a crunch on my budget - now to wait for reimbursement. ok - i'm officially off my soap box!! I apologize for my rant - I am grateful for my job and grateful that I don't have to travel 2.5 hrs oneway for a commute YET. No stimulus check for us yet - mine is due on the 16th - have gotten several calls tho that people are not getting the full amounts. So please don't spend til ya got it OK? I know a few who have borrowed or gotten advances on the money - thinking they are getting $1200 but only received $1,000; suppose to receive $900 only got $600. Not sure why the ##'s are less - no clear explanation on that yet - but the only consulation that we have heard - is that on your 2008 tax return - you will list how much you received and if it was calculated incorrectly and you were due more - the remainder will be added to your 2008 tax return.

good glorious monday morning gang! gosh ya'll been busy fingers today. but that's the beauty of the penny thread, we can share anything and everything! gas around here hovers between $3.60-$3.75 a gallon depending on where you are and the local taxes etc....using my fred meyer discount card i paid $3.63 last week and felt like i was really getting a deal........sheesh. i forced myself to go to the WinCo grocery store yesterday and altho it was WAY overwhelming i was really glad at checkout!!!! what normally would have run at leat $180 was only $132 and since you bag your own groceries everything was packed very nicely!!! learned something NEW about hank this weekend...after 5.5. years i found out he likes yogurt! how do i know? cuz he ate MINE! speaking of mr wonderful, he got the roof completely torn off the bbq/tiki hut yesterday! WOW what a difference!!! it's like our yard just doubled! now the view from the house and the deck is completely unobstructed and there's so much more light on the patio....there's an almost perfect square patch in the yard that til now has always been shaded by that roof......he escaped with only minor injuries....one 2x4 caught him in the jaw and the handle of his hammer whacked him in the knee.......you shoulda seen him scampering around on the roof slats like a dang monkey. bucky did his best to help...... i got out to the other side of the house and did some weeding and tidying, took some of the decommisioned firebricks to line the entry way, hoping to slow the DIRT down a bit....bucky has a really nice dirt play area going where it's so shady not even moss will grow, it's like his very own sandbox....he'll dig a hole and then plop down in it....thinks it's just the coolest thing since sliced carrots! he "helped" me rake - well i'm sure HE thinks he's helping... so my rather renewed efforts to get in shape and not look like such a damn hag seems to be paying off. i'm not sure if these dumb green tea fat burner pills are really doing anything or just helping me stay in the right frame of mind, but the scales don't lie right? i know also packing my own lunch to work makes a huge difference....as i was making hank's lunch this morning he reminded me....making yourself a sandwich too right??? oh yeah, good point!!! did up chicken fried steak last nite....man does that require a lot of artillery! my poor kitchen.....next time i do that recipe i'm gonna cheat and get cubed steak and save the all the whacking of the meat with the rolling pin......and we really need to invest a good cast iron skillet cuz that's the best for frying stuff, holds the temp much more evenly and that way the coating adheres better.....all in all tho pretty scrumpdillyumptious! popped some chicken breasts and this new crockpot chicken packaged sauce stuff in the slow cooker this morning for chicken pot pie tonite! never did get "caught up" on laundry, but did manage to wrestle the nice clean covers back on the couch! now i suppose i'd best get SOME work done.......or at least give the appearance of working! |

if you happen to have your 2007 tax return on ya (and who doesnt' huh?) you can go to irs.gov and there's an online calculator that will help estimate how much of what you are eligible for you are likely to receive....... Economic Stimulus Payments Information Center then click on Basic Info and scroll down til you see the online calculator link thingie....... and here's the mailing timing reminder schedule: Last two SSN digits: Payments will be transmitted no later than: 00 through 20 May 2 21 through 75 May 9 76 through 99 May 16 |

i believe our resident tax goddess had the BEST advice, don't go spending what ya don't get yet! at this point i'm assuming i get about ten cents...........i do hope that each of you gets SOME amount worthwhile, ya'll work too dang hard to not get at least some relief! hey ya know what? i make one helluva roast beef sandwich! jewelz, it took me some time to get the hang of it but by consistently bringing my own lunch i feel that much better....i have better control over what i'm eating and what is done to it prior to me eating it! periodically they have sales on stouffer's frozen entrees and you know how i LOVE mac n cheese! i'll grab some of those and the swedish meatballs and sometimes the turkey whatsit - trust me my system ADORES stouffers, hell i was raised on it, as we owned the small grocery/convenience store in the apt building i grew up in!!!! (cough, AND the liquor store....sigh). now if i can just get this smoothie thing down to an art form we won't be buying those protein drinks either! i tell ya what there's more to it than tossing in some berries and ice cubes, it's almost an artform! |

Being the "tax professional" that I strive to be (and I love being called Tax Goddess-thanks Anvil) for all of my clients - we did the calculator estimate based on their 2007 tax return. Several of them have contacted me saying that they have gotten less - Sorry Cindi - but like you say - I haven't heard of anyone getting the full $1500 yet - the most anyone has gotten is $1200. It was a great plan - but THEN the I R S got a hold of it - oops did I say negative things about my buddies at the IRS - I humbly apologize - they probably weren't given enough time to try to process this pkg to start with - not to mention it was dumped in their lap in the middle of their busiest season? So ok, I'll give them a little compassion. Now that has passed - anybody happen to watch the show "Cold Case" last nite? Man it was a powerful show - about drugs, quiting, children and parents - I bawled my eyes out - made me miss Ash so much - said lots of prayers for her and the three little ones. Believe my sanity (or lack of) is going to have me calling the jail to find out if she is still incarcerated or out living on the streets again. Either way, I am powerless.
