| Your Sobriety Date..Why????
Almost everyone on here has one, or is about to have one...Sobriety dates have some sort of significance when we finally decide to get sober. I was just wondering what everyone else's sobriety date meant to them or why they finally decide on that day they would stop.....

Today is the high point of my sobriety date. Day one was Dec 12 1955. On the day I was born I started on a course that was leading to sobriety. I took many a turns in the road along the way. The road started getting straight around the time our 3rd child was on the way. My wife was pregnant with our 3rd child and my past had started catching up to me. First child born... I started thinking real seriously about what my drinking could do to her. I pretty much stopped drinking all together around that point. It took me a few more years before I took it seriously enough to stop all together. Dry sure was a better life then drunk. My true sobriety date... the true point of finding a real sober life started in June of 98. I bought and started to read the bible for the very first time in my life. What I found among the pages were lessons of life such as what is found in the 12 steps used in AA. The wisdom of the ages that has been used by many changed my life from a dry drunk to a sober living person. Why is my sobriety date important to me? It is a reminder of the moment in time that my life changed for the better. Today is the high point of my sobriety date.... because today I learned a bit more then I knew yesterday. hmmm I just looked at the date in June of 98 when things started to truly happen in my life. Happens to be my father's birthday. June 13. I never connected the two before.

Ok after really thinking about this you are so right..They say we are born addicts.so when you say it started the day you born...more power to you. SoOOO true. Unless you don't feel that way ..sorry... But I am not going to use it to pinpoint my addiction...I belive it is true we are born with a cetain disposition to abuse. I just felt like sharing that...thanks
